I will just touch on the units I have experience with. Overall the forgeworld units for
CWE are good to very good but there are a number of hiccups due to the age of the rules.
*Revenant Titan: I actually have never gotten to play with this in 7ed. The model is built but
TBH the rules are just too good and people hate playing against it. With the nerfed ranged D rules in the ITC and
NOVA IMO it is perhaps balanced and in the ITC might be a little under powered. The sonic lance version is
IMO actually a more interesting unit but again is way too good against a lot of lists. Make sure if you play a revenant people understand it is a no holds barred game or people will be give bad memories.
*Wasp: This unit is actually really excellent. What makes it different than scatbikes is that you can take a single wasp and
DS it behind the opponent. This means wasps 1) don't get shot at before they can shoot and 2) can shoot rear armour. However if you do decide to run DSing wasps make sure you take some reserves manipulation.
An alternative take is you can also take other heavy weapons on wasps. They don't have to be scatter lasers. Unfortunately most of the other weapons are victims of bad pricing choices in the previous
CWE codex and thus pretty badly overpriced. However the shu cannon wasp is only 50 pts for a unit that can
DS and shoot 6
Str 6 shots with pseudo rending. The missile launcher option is also not bad as it can
DS or jump behind flyers or vehicles and shoot the rear armour.
Keep in mind that wasps are not that much slower than scatbikes due to the 6+
2d6" and their shu cannon firepower is 85% the pts efficiency for Str6 shots but with the addition of a more durable platform and bladestorm. The biggest negative is really that the wasps don't get ObjSec.
*Hornet:
IMO this is perhaps the "best" forgeworld
CWE unit. The pts efficiency for pulse laser hornets is extremely nasty. They also fulfill something that is not common in the
CWE codex; ie pts efficient
Str 8 AP2 firepower. They are everything the vyper wishes it were and a great model too. These things are nasty firepower and tactically flexible.
*Lynx: This made a big splash at the
LVO in a number of
CWE lists (one of which was top 10). It is extremely pts efficient firepower and very durable when put on a skyshield landing pad. Very effective against elite models and vehicles due to the
Str D shooting.
*Vampire Hunter: Pretty much no event allows this and people don't want to play against it. It is good but not really amazing as flyers rarely get more than a few turns to shoot. Mostly this unit is just durable and many people don't bring enough anti air to bring it down. I actually really like the rules and model but I never get to use it.

This unit is 2 times the pts of the lynx with about the same firepower but twice the
HP and is force to start in reserves unless you bring a ready to take off skyshield landing pad.
*Warp Hunter: This units badly needs to be updated. It is still pretty good as a source of Str7 AP3 barrage blasts but over costed for it's use. However it is probably going to be broken when they update it as it has a distortion weapon which should logically go to StrD -1 on the chart, like scythes. Currently the rules are actually unusable as distort is no longer defined as a rule in
CWE codex. I love the model however.
*Irillyth: This is perhaps my favorite character. He is the centerpiece of any freakshow (thanks Jimsolo for a great name) style seer council list. The combination is absolutely brutal and can cause you to just erase entire board sections. I have been toying with him attached to a foot seer council with a shadow field archon w/ armour of misery as well, it is extremely effective and surprisingly mobile. Fantastic model as well.
*Nightwing Interceptor: This is a pretty good air superiority fighter. It is a bit overpriced for what it can do and is made somewhat redundant as the crimson hunter tends to do the same jobs but better. The one kind of cool thing about this flyer is that it actually gets a 1+ cover save when it jinks thus -1 cover abilities still leave it with 2+ cover saves. It is also shrouded so if you have large buildings you can claim a 2+ cover save from large fortifications or ruins.
*Phoenix Bomber: This is a "ground" attack flyer that is actually pretty good at it's job. People may assume that it competes with the wraithfighter but this is not true as the wraithfighter is best used against elite hard to hurt targets while the bomber is best against either
MEQ or
GEQ depending on the configuration. Note however that when taken in the right configuration it actually becomes a pretty nasty flyrant killer. The units is definitely significantly overpriced though and needs probably a 20 pts drop. The weapon options are also ridiculously price as the pulse laser is vastly better than the other options.
