I've been lurking for a little while and even posted a few army lists - with me expanding my Dark Eldar collection into the realms of the Covens, I figured it would be nice to try maintain a blog of the work.
I'll be painting up The Hex, because, well, that colour scheme!
Can't wait to get painting.
For anyone interesting - I'll be building/painting the following to work into a super-friendly 750 point list;
This list is for around 2 months time, so I hope to have it all done by then!
I'll be building the Grots a la Crypt Horror route - using spare bits from the pain engine kits.
I also have some Dark Eldar stuff I'd like to potentially re-purpose, especially after reading the WD article that used spare Chronos bits to modify a raider - that looked great.
If anyone has any suggestions or pointers towards painting the scheme I'm going for, that would be great, as I anticipate it to be difficult (and I'm not too great at painting yet!)
For now, a WIP of the Wracks I've just started assembling. I think I'm going to paint the backs/(w)racks before gluing, same with the white-tac-ed arms. Which I'm still messing around with - trying to create some nice poses and silhouttes with the weapons. Open to any suggestions!

Right arm (his right) on the right-most (our right ) guy looks a little awkward, but that might just be because it's not quite in the right place due to the bluetack...
Thanks for the feedback! I think the tack is making them look a little odd, but I switched his arm out for a nicer fit.
It's my first time painting before final assembly, as I'd like these to be as good as I can do and I feel like I'll potentially botch them when doing things like the bone growths and where the arms come close to the body.
So, of course, I get busy the moment I decide to stop lurking and make a P&M Blog.
While waiting on the opportunity to get the paints I may need for the scheme, I thought about how I'd be basing the models and how to go about it.
As it happens, I also played a few games of Age of Sigmar, and preceded to dig the box of only Fantasy models I own; A box of dwarf warriors. The had no arms glued in, so from the box I made myself 10 Warriors, 5 'counts as' hammerers and a 'counts as' thane with a banner.
This was the perfect oppertunity to rip 'em off the square bases and do a practice run of how I might base the coven.
So, here is my awesome set-up - it's an IKEA drawer we never used with the front missing, and some extra nails to hold it all together and keep the gaps between the bottom panel and sides minimal.
I also happen to like a glass of red wine or two - and thought I'd use the corks, as I'd seen some great stuff done with cork before.
The first shot is the initial pieces glued, and the second is a bit more of a close-up.
The third is after painting them up, and of course, the 4th is a model just tacked onto one to see how they look. That base in particular is twice the height of a normal one, which I'm not sure if I'll do for models like the Acothyst and Haemie.
As a practice run, I'm happy with how they turned out, and if I make them a little darker I think they'll contrast nice with the scheme I've chosen.
Thanks! Wracks are actually very easy to paint. They're practically made to take advantage of washes. Games Workshop's Duncan Rhodes has a pretty good Wrack painting video. All you'd have to do is swap some of the colors for the look you want.
Woo, another update! Hitting a new record here with a whole 3 posts.
Picked up some paints for The Hex in anticipation of actually painting them. Exciting!
I then got round to priming (boring I know, but hey, I'm wanting to post regularly)
So, introducing, the squad of wracks and the first Haemonculus for the Coven.
Assembly wise, I'm happy with the choice of disgusting tools of torture, and I can't wait to use them in a game!
Next up, the Talos body;
And, of course, I had to re-purpose a venom. The wyches previously on-board were very slightly super glued, so I cut 'em off and added some vials where the feet once were to cover it a little. I filed the face off of the driver, and stuck a spare mask on, then a little green-stuff to add a connection to the gun (first time using it so didn't work great, but it looks kinda fleshy so I may paint it accordingly) with a spare injector on the cannon.
I also used a spare bone rack to connect to the spear which the tubes from fitted great into the skulls on the spear. I was also contemplating adding the chain flail arm from the Talos kit with the vambrace onto the front of the venom, it looks really cool but it bugs me all the chains would hang in front of the gun!
Next up, a little Malifaux, because, well, I touched these up a little since I last painted them and thought I'd share...
Automatically Appended Next Post: ...And here it is; Imgur was playing up and thought I'd break up my huge post a little.
Presenting, a Torikage, Shang, and Izamu!
...Until next time.

Woo, it's update time! I've been busy this time, actually doing what I set out to do, promise.
First up, I picked up some Crypt Horrors to use as grotesques;
Just the one liquifier gun for now, and all the Talos leftovers. I have the second kit now to build into a Chronos, so any parts left over will probably end up on these guys or a spare raider.
Next up, I started painting the wracks;
That's just the fleshcoat.
Vallejo Dead Flesh, Reikland Fleshshade, then Dead Flesh, Pallid Wych Flesh, and White Scar, incase anyone was wondering. Pretty much the video kindly linked to me above this post.
And finally!
Here's the first test model finished, pretty happy with how he came out. Needs a little more minor tweaking and tidying up, but otherwise I like him.
That's also a spare crypt horror base to test out my basing schemes!
Any and all feedback always welcomed!

So I took that wrack off of the tester base (note to self - Martian Ironearth does not like white-tack) - and finished up another two wracks in the squad, and even got around to giving them a venom, which needs a little tidying up in places yet, but I'm happy with where it's at!
Next up is to finish those remaining 2 wracks to complete this squad. The grotesques have been sprayed, as has their transport, so they'll be joining the painting line shortly.
It's not strictly in the coven book, but hey, I had some scourges and finally got around to priming them, so expect them to show up at some point too!

Thanks so much!
Aye, the blood is a sacrificial old toothbrush and the blood god technical paint. And a lot of paper lest I get it on the table or floor - really happy with it!
I actually bought another venom and 5 of the old finecast wracks off of someone already (beautifully) painted as they didn't use them so I have the option to, tempted to give it a go!
I have a few ideas for the list, it might be a straight Covenite detachment, or a combo of formations if I can squeeze them into 750 points on the day.

What do you have for Covens? I've played a lot of games over the past few weeks using only covens and no regular DE.
