Hi all,

I have about 40 English monies at my disposal and I wish to add some more stuff to my guard army but I can't decide what. So far I have;

Command squad (officer, 3 lasgun blokes, 1 plasma bloke),
Lord commissar,
3x vet squad each with 3x plasma blokes,
Chimera (magnetised for all options),
Manticore/deathstrike (magnetised for either),
Vendetta,
Leman Russ executioner with plasma sponsons

My main (currently only) opponent usually (90% of the time) fields orks but he also has chaos marines and a small tau force. He has no fliers or sky fire.

I can't decide between getting more men on the ground, more chimeras to keep my blokes safe, a leman Russ punisher for dealing with his hordes easier, an ADL to hide behind, another executioner for plasma fun, some scout sentinels to outflank or something else.

Any advice?

The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Wyverns would generally wreck the armies you listed your opponent uses.

I think you need more Chimeras for your Veteran squads. Or Tauroxes I guess if you like that sort of thing...

I am planning on getting more chimeras at some point. Don't like the tauroxes, they look silly.

Wyverns are great, i have an army a little larger than this and i'm looking to get another, i would also recommend another Valkyrie or vendetta.

Wyverns or Thudd guns in a squad of 3 will basically guarantee wiping a unit (provided they aren't Terminators, but they still stack wounds like no other) off the table a turn with 12 small blasts.

Even if you scatter off the first shot, it is really easy to chain the next 11 blasts till you get back to the unit you were trying to hit.

Against Orks and Tau it will be a cake walk with them.

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

You seem to have no heavy weapon squads.
Do you ever see yourself taking a platoon? They can come in handy there, with the PCS and CCS dropping orders on them.
£40 gets you a PCS (CS box) and a HWS box.

Otherwise, another Chimera for your CCS or Vets.
Or, since 1 flier is never enough, get another of that.

At 1500 you kind of need 2 AA units or fliers imo, but since he never fields it get some artillery in the form of wyverns It will give him grey hairs. Its also a unit you dont have from before and will make the game more interesting than just fielding another vendetta or chimera!

Let the galaxy burn.
