I am trying to improve a St Celestine conversion I did some time ago. The cape and flames were not that good. I have blended the cape and redone the fire. Both look good, but it was missing something. I decided I had to try some OSL on it.

The thread about when I did it at first in case you are wondering:

The Results:

It is getting close, but it is not there. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Way too heavy, and undirected.

OSL has three rules, really.

Light is additive. It cannot make a surface darker.

Light goes in straight lines and falls off linearly.

Light intensity is stronger when the surface is facing the light source. In particular leading edges.

Much of your light reflection here is on armour. That means artificially increasing the reflectivity (NMM techniques apply). Bright spots and counter-highlights are the order of the day.

Thanks for the feedback. I can't sleep, so I tried to work on it some.

Any closer? It is looking a lot better to me.

Definitely an improvement!
I would suggest that the light from the front would be illuminating the cape from the inside and causing her arm to silhouette on the back. Think of how cloth works, it's different to her solid parts.

I have worked on the OSL more and added to her, the purity seals and some details to her breast plate. I don't know how to go about making her cape show the shadow of her arm on the back, that may just be beyond me. However, I am quite happy with her, she might be done. Do you think so? I will try getting some pictures in the sun today and see if they are better than the horrible lighting in my home.

Much better! You may want to smooth out the rest of the model. It looks kinda chunky but that may be the fact that it's an old model.
