So, apparently a couple armies are being "replaced" in AoS, like Orks becoming Ooruks, or whatever. They still "support" the old armies, but won't really be making anything new for them from what I've heard. If this is true, is there a point to trying to keep my Tomb Kings + Nagash/Arkhan? Should I just sell them now and save up for when the new "undead" faction comes out? I love my Tomb Kings, but hate the idea of it being a "legacy" army that no longer will be updated.

Beating a dead horse I know but you can either play Warhammer of play Kings of War.

If you sell your Tomb Kings then all you are telling GW is that you are ok with them eliminating your forces at their whim. Why still give money to them?

Personally I suggest trying them with other rules. Failing that, if you dont want an unsupported army then yea sell them.

Nagash is the god/leader of the Death faction, and undead are always gonna be a thing, i suspect.

Some very specific things may eventually get phased out, eg. constructs, but I don't see any need to bail just yet.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

It's no different than before really. Yeah they've altered the names but it's not like your models are suddenly going to be turned off. They are definitely changing the models....but hows that different from any other time they've come out with new models? The name change is no different than Imperial guard changing to Astra Militarum except you'll likely see cooler looking models not constrained by the need to rank up.

If i may be so bold, you may want to try AoS to see if it scratches that itch. If it does not give KoW a chance before selling it off. . Besides it is a buyers market out there as retailers (anonymously so as to avoid GW's wrath) and former players are ditching armies left and right. . I saw Nagash for $30 on Ebay and tomb kings stuff is all over the place. .

Besides, Tomb Kings was a facelift of the previous undead (Vampire counts..?) so that old (non Egyptian) undead would look out of place with the new stuff. .

Undead aren't going anywhere, and skeletons will always be skeletons.

They'll be new units sure, and old units will go OOP. But that's the way it has always been. Your old models will look fine alongside the new models.

Anything branded "End Times" already had the new look. The newer models are likely to resemble Arkhan and Nagash more than the older tomb kings (especially with the armour styles I suspect), but they'll all look fine together

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Well, the main reason I started Tomb Kings was because of the look and the fluff. (Otherwise, why play them? They were terrible in 8th) If they take that away, then what's the point?

Yeah, that is kind of depressing to hear. I was considering getting whatever new undead models they have, because I do like the game system. But, I don't know anymore. If I give GW any more money, I'll probably just like it to just be for my Crons or something 40k related.

I would definitely hold onto it for a while, at least long enough for Ebay prices to go up a bit.

If you were going to sell them time was 6 months ago.

I've not been checking ebay but I expect there's a glut of WHF right now.

I would hold on and sell in a year or two when there's less out there and kits have gone OOP.

Look at how Necromunda prices have gone through the roof since GW killed specilaist games.

Keep to them and see what happens. As others have pointed out, skeletons are skeletons... and also, you can most likely use Tomb Kings as allies to whatever Undead comes next.

I haven't had a fantasy army in over 14 years but I really want to start a TK army, so you can just send them to me LOL

I can't tell you how much fun I'm having putting my Kings on Diorama bases. Finally they look like an intimidating force and not like they're about to trip over each other. KOW recommended all the way! Just tuck the PDF in your old 8th ed rulebook for fluff, and let's all pretend this whole thing never happened. (Since the End times reads like bad fanfic anyway, it shouldn't be too hard )

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

I agree 100%. Once I got the measurements for basing and so on its a breeze and fun to do.

Nothing to say that in one of "the mortal realms" there wasn't a civilization that resembled Egypt that was then wiped out in some sort of catastrophe and then reanimated by Nagash either...

There is so much fantasy on ebay, I bought a whole TK army for 180ish. And 20 ogres for 50 bucks total. The big deals are dwarves and elves, they are everywhere, so the prices are Much cheaper

3500 Imperium army

1250 Nidzilla

1000 Chaos army

1000 Drukhari Raiding Force

If you like your Tomb King army, why sell it? Currently you can play Warhammer, Kings of War, Age of Sigmar, and any other game that can field an army of skeletons.

Yeah it's definitely a buyer's market and a poor time to sell if you want to make back a decent percentage of what you spent. We all know that only display quality complete armies bring big money, and even the worth of those has fallen with AOS and 7th 40k.

Great for those of us who want to add armies though!
