So I am fairly new to Infinity, I have been able to piece together a lot about the fluff and the factions, however I am a bit confused about the whereabouts of Canada and England are, did they vanish with Ariadna? I see Scotsmen, French, American, I saw a single SAS miniature. What happened to England and it's step son Canada?

Ariadna was the first colony project and was colonised with Scotts, Frenchs, Americans and Russians, but the wormhole leading there collapsed so it has been isolated for quite a while, this also caused Murrica's economy to disintegrate and (in the long term) helped the emergent countries to associate and form PanO.

Also, as per some fluff we know half of America was devastated by some nanotech wars so probably Canada aint too well either, England is surely part of PanOceania as we know the European Union is part of it, and if Canada is still alive it is either PanO or a banana republic with no importance whatsoever.


EDIT: Well, we could take some ideas from Fallout and think that China (pre or post absorption of the rest of Asia) got hold of it, but I don't think they are ever mentioned.

Canada is more or less an unknown quantity.

England is part of the EU, which is part of PanOceania.

Also important to note that you're not seeing "Scotsmen". You're seeing Caledonia. Caledonia is a nation created after a team of sapper engineers found a rich seam of Teseum in the Northern Range, later known as Hadrian's Mountains. The 45th Highlander Rifles Regiment, the Galwegian, was mobilized to defend the area and a permanent post was established with the soldiers' families reloacted and English-speaking Anglo-Saxon miners assigned to the area.
The population of those miners meant that you had English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, and some Danish creating their own community isolated from the rest of Dawn(the name of the planet Ariadna is a nation on).
Because of the fact that the Scottish were a much higher percentage of this population, the Scottish influenced the culture of the area that this group settled. It got to the point that "that the region would later identify itself as Caledonia, after the old Roman name for the 'barbaric' parts of Britannia north of Hadrian's Wall".

Also, the SAS is not "Special Air Service" but "Special Ariadnan Service".

This dissolution of 'murica was also tied in with the failed and LOST SECOND ariadna mission (There were supposed to be TWO ships, one following the other - the second never arrived on Dawn (see paradiso for its fluff). The wormhole collapsing was an accident, though (although NOT a natural accident) and the second ship being redirected was connected to that, too.

The fluff in all four books (2nd ed, Human Sphere, Paradiso and 3rd ed) so far is all interconnected and if any of your friends or play group have access to them, are worth reading if you want to know some more stuff. I think the specifics of America, Canada and some other areas not being fully fleshed out is refreshing. Points to a world that doesn't revolve around North America.
