Hey all,
I've been offered the Chaos half of the starter set. Now, I've not played Chaos since 6th edition Fantasy, when I got out of the game; and since returning I've found a lot of their models to be pretty hit and miss. For every Doombull or Dragon Ogre Shaggoth, there seems to be three Mutalith Beasts. Anyway, can anyone whose played with the Khorne chappies from the starter set let me know how they play? They seem to be like 40k Orks, minus the fun. The models look pretty badass, and it wouldn't hurt to get em cheap and paint them up for a laugh, but I'm worried about the fact that half of the Chaos models look like total mince, the Bloodthister costs double most monsters of equivalent size, for no apparent reason, and their gameplay style might be a touch dull.
Thanks!

I just started a new chaos army with the Khorne side of the starter set. I traded away the Sigmarines for another Khorne side of the set. The models are amazing and their game play is also fun. Each thing individually is mediocre, but when you run them in the battalion formation and you get the buffs off on them they get super powerful. Game play wise I think you could go several directions with a Chaos army, especially since their are no requirements anymore. If you can get the Chaos half for cheap I would definitely recommend it.

-They shall be my finest Ultrasmurfs. Built and painted so that they may wreck the faces of those that oppose them!
-My young pupil... you seem to have this unholy addiction to Ultramarines. WE MUST TEST YOU FOR HERESY. -Inquisitor mean man
Ultramarine army- 10k
Imperial knights- 2
Vampire counts- 2k
Eternity King- 3k
Dark Eldar: Eternal Thorn 1300pts
And lots of other armies, I just cant fit them here

That sounds encouraging. My time with the Orks does make me like giant mobs of idiots who charge into melee, and having a buff-centric approach also appeals from my time with the Tomb Kings.
Is there anything in particular that you feel the starter set guys need added? I'm tempted towards adding some Minotaurs or Dragon Ogres, both fun models.

I have two lots of the khorne guys from the starter. They are good. Fun is what you make of it. GW have some stinking models, you don`t have to buy them. If you are going mono khorne there are loads of really good looking options for them. As for the price of the greater daemon i`m not sure which monsters are that size. It is huge and priced similarly to other big things GW sells. They are a solid close combat force as are most chaos things. It really depends what you are looking for and what game style you want to play

Well, Khorne is for me the way to go atm.
I have one starter set and try to get another half of the Khorne models.
The army in the starter booklet looks amazing and I'll go for it.
This means adding one Warshrine and some Wrathmongers and Skullreapers.
