I have bought some minatures that have been painted but then superglued on plain black bases. I am finding it fiddly to flock the bases appropriately with the minature attached. Is there an easy way to remove the base without destroying the base (as I will want to reuse it) and without destroying the paint job?

I had thought of acetone (but would destroy the paint job); putting it in the freezer (may destroy all the superglued joints) or alternatively prising it off with a razor. Does anyone have any suggestions or would I be better off trying to flock it all with the minature attached?

I spent about two hours trying to get my warboss's arm off with an exacto knife and it worked reasonably well I also removed him from his base using the same method. So using a hobby knife of some sort to get him off should work. If you scratch the base a little bit it won't matter if your going to flock it.

"The space marine officer was waving and yelling to his men on the wall unaware he was leading the Squiggoth on. Stompy (the squiggoth) headbutted its way through the wall and gave chase to the terrified commander as he ran up seven tiers of the fortress, trying to close gates behind him and ordering men to cover his fight. In the end, stompy cornered and pulverised the officer in the heart of the citadel as thousands of orks poured through the breaches he had left behind."

Careful with this method. I have snapped a few blades doing this. Thankfully, I game in the basement so my kid doesnt find broken blades.

Try a small screw driver. The blade is thicker so snapping it shouldnt be an issue.

Or if you have extra bases just break the base as they are much cheeper than the mini.

There is an Xacto blade that is a wedge. Just a rectangle that's sharp on the front, not on a traditional blade angle. I put that in the screwdriver handled handle and give it some taps with a mallet or other hefty tool. Nice and gentle and keep it flat. MUCH less chance of snapping this blade. And the smaller version is great for converting.

Sadly I've dulled mine to near uselessness and I've only gotten them out of the 'variety set' Xacto has. Haven't looked too hard elsewhere but whatever. I'm sure they're somewhere.

Yep the Xacto blade that's like a wedge is what I used to.

Throw them in the freezer.
The CA bond turns brittle.
Should sort you out.

I may be an donkey-cave, but at least I'm an equal oppurtunity donkey-cave...

It that is true, you might find your mini disassembled as well.
