I was looking on the GW website, and i saw that the celestial thunder box is £400 and that the 5 liberators are £100. The thing that i don't understand is WHY?!
Especially since the new box set of chaos and stormcast is £250. I know it's new, they want more money, and they are awesome models, but still.
Can someone please explain why i should pay £400 for 20 models that aren't even colossal sized and really awesome. Automatically Appended Next Post: also, the lord celestant is £65? whuuuhhhttt!!!!!!!
£65 can get me a small army, never mind 1 guy. Automatically Appended Next Post: WHOOPS! i put it onto us for some reason ( which i dont remember doing) Automatically Appended Next Post: but still, £120? for 20 models?

if people paid attention you would see that a lot of GW miniatures/boxes come with heaps of extra things and toys that can be used to model other things, the box you speak off apparently has over 100 weapons as well... those are the extras... OH and the quality of the minis is just superb.

Yes, but they are still pieces of plastic, even if it's nice plastic

Ever since GW changed their website the regional switching has been much more stupid. It's not as simple to change regions yet at the same time it seems easier to accidentally get stuck in the wrong region
Maybe it's also because since GW changed it so the release time is region dependent, more people are logging in to the Australian site to see what new preorders are up and so it's started defaulting to that for some users?

Huh?
The GW site keeps whatever region I set or visit when I go back. Works for Explorer, Edge, and Chrome.
But if someone hyperlinks a product and I click on it, the region sets to that.
Check out the price in yen!!

I went to the GW site for the first time in an age when AoS was released, almost certainly the first time I visited with this PC, and my region was set to Aus. I changed it to GB when I was there but I just checked just now and its back to Aus.
This is with Firefox.

Something is up with their site. I keep ending up on France page instead of uk.
On a more on topic post a dollar sign and a pound sign are somewhat different. OP really should have noticed before getting his knicks twisted

Mine got stuck in Australia when I switched it to that to try and download the new rules before it was time in the US I had the same OMGSTICKERSHOCK moment too till I finally saw the little flag.
They're the same price as terminators, and I think a little bigger too? That's kinda one thing I like about them, being bigger means I don't have to paint 100 models..

Maybe it's a GW / Firefox problem? I stopped using Firefox quite some time ago.
IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE PER MODEL!!! NERD OUTRAGE!!! I mean... oh... waitaminute...
But seriously, I don't use FF these days because on a decent PC, all the browsers are pretty fast now and FF just renders some websites that I like kinda funny.

Well, if we're going by size (not that GW does), you're paying $50 for 5 terminator sized medels, and 5 terminators also happen to be $50, so it's not strictly an increase.
That being said, blessed be the Ebay resellers, 'cause if I could conceivably use more than three of 'em, $3 is the most I'll pay for a miniature, and that's pushing it. I've made an exception once, for the Greatsword Command Unit. Although as much fun as GW sticker shock is, product being produced in a first world nation with good labor laws is worth paying a bit more for in my book.

Well I started this hobby in 1996/7 there about but have been collecting toy monsters since before that... Either way you should know that this hobby was never fair on price but who cares its all about enjoying yourself until we drop dead.

i am more than happy to pay a lot more than £6 for cool plastic models...
yet, even £1, for a plastic model that doesn't interest me, won't compel me to buy it just because it is a good deal...
it's all relative to personal interests and value judgement...
OP: my iPad defaults to the UK site with Safari...
lately it seems like people have been following links to the NZ site...
sad for the Kiwis, but it does make a lot of people feel better about their local prices when they see what you guys are being charged...

I'm using Chrome and it remembers whatever page I last had open. Which is problematic when I'm following links that other people post on forums and whatnot. Someone posts a link to the UK site, my default changes to the UK until I manually set it back to Oz. If I recall correctly the old website was smarter because it'd remember the region YOU set, so if you followed a link posted by someone in the UK, it'd still open in your own region. Now, if someone from the UK posts a link, it opens the UK site regardless of which region you set yourself, and will change your default to the UK as well. I think that's why these "OMG WHY ARE THINGS TWICE AS EXPENSIVE! Oh it's just NZ" threads come up more frequently, and now even MORE frequently since news gets released in Oz/NZ before the rest of the world so people are posting links to the Oz/NZ sites more often. The old site was also more intelligent in that if you opened the wrong region, when you swapped regions it kept the same page (so if you were viewing a Hive Tyrant on the UK site and wanted to change it to the US site, it'd reopen the Hive Tyrant page automatically with the US region), now it just bumps you back to the home page each time.

Its still £6 for an infantry model, its irrelevant if GW also sells other similar sized kits for that price. After all its not as if raw plastic is expensive.

Thats cool man. If it helps there is no way your game can be worse than AOS
In all seriousness good luck. Especially making your own models. I own some cool models because people have said "screw buying others, let's make my own how I want" and that's awesome.

That's a bloody good point. These would be cheaper if produced in China or India, so it seems worth it to pay extra to keep some manufacturing in Europe!
