I picked up some chaos dwarfs from russian alternative, and not sure how to base the unit.

I don't have a kings of war rule book yet, and unsure how the heros work with units. I know a unit as a whole is a set base and many people just base the regiment on a single large base. I realy like this idea and one of the reasons i'm getting into KoW. Makes transporting the armies so much easier so I would like to do this. But do heros join units like in WHFB?

I want to know if i need to make a slot for the hero's base to slot into the larger regiment base.

Nope, heroes move around on their own.

Heroes are units in their own right and do not join other units.
