Hey there Dakka, my friend and I thought we would shake the dust off some 40K models. Originally we thought about playing 4th, but there were a few rules from 5th we remembered liking so decided to go for that. Neither of us cared for 6th and have not bothered with 7th. We are old and have families so we would rather spend time playing games than learning a new giant rules set. Since there has been some talk on Dakka about moving back the clock we thought we would share this game with the rest of you.

We decided to keep things simple. D3 objectives, which turned out to be 3, and 2000 points.

Here are the lists

Here is our set up with the objectives marked. Azrael and his command squad start in the Achilles. The Tac squad with the power weapon set up in the Prometheus.

Dark Angels Turn 1
The Tac squad in the Prometheus disembarks and make a run for the objective in the bunker. The other two squads move toward their objectives. The Devastators take out both War Walkers and the Achilles picks off one Wraithguard.

Eldar Turn 1
The Farseer takes a wound form Perils of the Warp (three 6s and failed the save). Combined Eldar fire drop 6 marines form the center squad. The squads in the bunker lose 2 marines from Wraithlord fire.

Dark Angels Turn 2
Combined fire drops 6 Wraithguard in the center, though he got to put 2 back because he almost forgot that the Wraithseer gave them FNP. The Devastators pluck a wound off of the Wraithseer. The Prometheus cuts down 7 Guardians and the Tac Squad in the woods finish them off.

Eldar Turn 2
Wraithguard wreck the Prometheus and the Guardians wreck the Plasma Dread. The Wraithseer takes out 2 marines in combat and the Wraithlord beats down a few too.

Dark Angels Turn 3
The Devastators stun the closest Wave Serpent. The Achilles takes out 4 Guardians (amazing cover saves). The Command Squad melta 2 Wraithguard. The Wraithlord in the woods punks 3 more marines and the Sgt with a power fist can’t hit jack . The Dread kills 2 Wraithguard and the Warlock swings wildly with his witchblade. The Wraithseer finishes off the Tac squad in the center.

Eldar Turn 3

Guardians snipe the Dev Sgt with a bright lance. Combined fire from the Wraithguard and Wraithlord take out 5 marines in the bunker. The Wraithlord finishes them off in combat. Like a sprinting ninja the Wraithseer takes out 4 of the command squad (Lion Helm my ). In the woods on the left the Wraithlord finished off the Sgt with the power fist. The Dread and the Warlock just swing away.

Dark Angels Turn 4

The Achilles backs up and takes 2 wounds off the Wraithlord in the woods. Azrael whiffs but this turn the Lion Helm actually works. Dread whiffs but the warlock stuns him with his witchblade.

Eldar Turn 4

The Wraithguard on the right stretch out in a Conga Line and take two objectives. Both Wave Serpents cut loose and take out the Devastators. The Wraithlord wrecks the Achilles in combat. The Lion Helm fails again and both Azrael and the standard bearer go down.

We called it there. With only a dread left there is no hope left for my poor Dark Angels . Eldar win 2-0. It was fun to get back in. I think the total game time with pics and taunting was only around 2.5 hours. We even had time for another game, but that report will have to wait for another day. I hope you all enjoy this trip in the Wayback Machine

It's time to go full Skeletor

Nice and simple. I like it.
Also i too remember 5th games of 2000 points were substancialy quicker than 7th gamesof 1500.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!
