Okay I have a large collection of Chaos and Space Marines...but with a horde army of guard, horde army of Skaven, and a High Elf army, space is getting a bit...premium in my room. So I've been seriously pursuing an army I've always wanted since 2000, and that's Sisters of Battle. Figuring to trade off the Chaos and Space Marines for as much as I can get.

Thing is:

1. I keep hearing rumors that they will finally get a proper update and plastic minis, though model wise the only thing I don't care about are Repentia

2. The cost. I want at least 3K of points to have enough to play at all levels. (I got at least 6K combined of points worth of Chaos and SM.)

3. I have no idea 'how' the army is played, I keep thinking about a swarm of Rhinos, Immolators and Sisters flaming and melting stuff up close and personal. I hear they have a flyer, but it isn't on the main site, so I don't know if it's in the book or something strictly Forge World.

4. The only list I have is from the 3rd ed. of the rulebook. And I really want a physical book.

and finally: I also kinda like Tau, but I really don't want another shooty army.

Also I like the idea of comboing my Guard and a Sisters Army.

So...talk me into it, talk me out of it. Other armies to think about? No GK or Necrons. I've owned a Nid, Ork, Dark Eldar and Eldar army before and out of that I only really 'miss' my Eldar.

You should probably read into how the army's played, read the new codex, and check out some battle reports to get a decent idea of how they play. You won't do yourself any favors jumping in and then realizing you don't like how the army plays, or you don't enjoy painting the models.

As for a new codex with plastic models, well, that's a rumor that's older than a lot of members of this forum. You could play it safe with things like Rhinos and basic Sisters, but the model range is pretty slim to begin with.

I'd probably start by getting a small contingent of them and allying them with your IG. Paint up a squad or two and some vehicles, have them fight as some kind of mechanized shock troops, and figure out a scheme you like. Maybe by then there will actually be a solid rumor or two!

For what its worth, 1d4chan do excellent army overviews. They will give you a general idea of how the army plays/what it's good at.

Before you make any decision, how much of your collection is actually painted?

If your answer is something tiny maybe it is time to have a sellout and start fresh, painting as you go. Build slowly etc.

Otherwise you will just be hording bare plastic and metal.

SM is 100% painted

CSM is about 75%, 15 % half way painted, 3 bare bikes and 1 helldrake assembled but unpainted.

Awesome, my suggestion then is to finish painting then decide.

I could see that, but I really should drop to just 2 40K armies for space reasons.
