I fethed up n got a deep cut on a Khorne Berzerkers red back pack. How can I make battle damage to look deliberate

easiest way would be to paint the cut grey or metallic, then put a thin outline around it with a colour slightly darker than your armours colour..this will look like its been gashed with a blade or something, although id suggest putting more battle damage on the dudes armour as one random cut will look odd.
