Fictitious Scenario:
Games Workshop releases a new set of decent looking models along with super-powered web exclusive rules in a limited release. It sells out in about 10 minutes.
GW Employee #1: Wow, those sold out quick. Do you know what these results mean?!?
GW Employee #2: I sure do. Those must be the best models we've ever made!
GW Employee #1: That's right! We're arteests!
EDIT: The above is what GW would have us believe. They always act so nonchalant about the gaming part of the hobby, and act as if they're all about the models, with the rules not even really being secondary. They act like if the game part of 40k stopped being a thing, they'd still sell just as many models. But if the people in charge of marketing really felt this way, bundled web-exclusive rules wouldn't even exist. It would be a waste of the paper the rules were printed on, since no one is here for that part of the hobby.
