are they any good, I love the models and hope they can be usable in game, but from what I understand they arent.

maybe bubble wrap, but I cant think of a good use.

I want to include them in the small force of imperial guard I am building, but don't know if I should.

happy wargaming,

At my desk

Slabshield Bullgryns for Leman Russ in cover provide extra cover and defence against any attacking units.

Regular ogryns are more fun than competitive, great for just throwing in to the enemy FOR THE EMPEROR!

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I was determined to make my ogryns work and tried them in several games. 3 Ogryn and a priest in a Taurox. I'd drive them up and use the Taurox as a LoS blocker while they waited to charge. Or I'd hop them out alongside my advancing blob to counter charge.
They were a ton of fun, and if they ever made it to combat they could put the hurt on the enemy, but the truth is that the 5+ armor simply doesn't cut it. It's glaringly idiotic in my mind that Ogryn don't have an option for better armor, but I guess that's why Bullgryn exist now.
Long story short, switching them to Bullgryn was the best choice I made aside from giving them the priest. I prefer Ogryn models and guns, so I hybridized the models to have bits from both kits so I can run them as either.

Whatever you do, run them as Bullgryn (the slabshield variant)for the better armor save. I use mine offensively, almost never using them as a walking aegis, and they can rampage.

They're one of the legions with the lost Primarchs, their primarch currently wandering around dazed and confused in an alternate reality where he is known as Jean Luc Picard.

I was afraid someone would say that.

I was THINKING of using them in a way that tau would use kroot, a unit that would be the first line of defense against nasty melee units.

They look soooooooo cool though.

anyways, once I get my hands on my the codex I will think

I loved the ogryn. my buddy would run them as a posse for his lord commissar. They would then be flung into the enemy.

Down with Allies, Solo 2016!
