Cool, but Lizards next yea?

Will these ever be in book form? I would like to buy if they get published.

Keep it up!

They are due to be published in a book later this year with all their background.

Reptilians will be worked on once their background is approved.

Honestly, when you take the rulebook, this coming army book and whatever else they release with a simple house rule you can probably play most fantasy settings. Wanna battle Aslan vs the witch in Narnia? I am fairly sure many of the creatures in Narnia have rules in kings of war. Warhammer Fantasy, easy. Lord of the rings looks pretty doable too. Also the obvious Mantic setting too.

I reckon once these are done there will be very few Fantasy Settings that cannot be played in Mass Battle with these rules.

The question then becomes where to go afterwards?

Historicals are being worked on as well. This is a good thing (as long as the RC takes the final pass over them).

Honestly, with the KoW statlines being as generic as they are, you can just stick anything to a movement tray and randomly pick a unit entry to use and it will probably make sense.

Nice timing with Empire of Dust.

My group played it's first few games this weekend. The Tomb King player was using Undead rules and not feeling it much. He liked the game, but not the list. He was considering trying Dwarves.

I sent him the EoD list, he seems excited.

Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)

Chariots?

Chariots!

Yay!

My one gripe is making them Evil - but I can live with that.

The important thing is having the Chariots....

The Auld Grump - not so particula', 'bout workin' at the wheels, but I just wanna know how the Chariot feels...

I am actually excited to try this out.

Not a whole lot of Mantic models in my army - some are from Reaper Bones (including the Giant and the Dragon) some are from Grenadier (the Behemoth and the Other Behemoth).

But a lot of the minis that I plan to use are... GW. The Tomb Kings starter that I held on to because I use them for RPGs.

I may add some Wargames Factory figures to the mix as well.

The Tomb Kings were an amazingly flexible army, before GW started getting bug nuts crazy with adding big models to everything.

Now I can play them in a decent rule set.

The Auld Grump

*EDIT* Grr... discovered that my Giant Scorpion Dung Beetle got damaged... going to have to special order the NiC from Reaper. I had fun making that model - moving backwards, pushing an enormous golden orb....

(My Tomb King is named The Sun Himself, his Wife is The Beautiful One, and his son is Son of the Sun.... Because Akhenaten was just that entertaining....)

So the Empire of Dust is just a new name for the Undead army? (with reworked rules of course). For a while I thought they were a totally new army.

No, it's analogous to Tomb kings. Undead would be analogous to Vampire Counts.

KoW "Undead" have elements of both - kinda like old-school GW undead before they split them. Mummies and Vampires in the same force.

Empire of Dust is a more Tomb Kings-specific/friendly list.

Hey, one of my favorite parts of the Scarred Lands was the Necromancer city of Hollowfaust....

Every year the army of the undead would march forth, leaving a trail of construction in their wake. (Repaired roads, fixed bridges, a barn raising or two.... The Necromancers of Hollowfaust had learned about the value of positive public relations....)

The Tomb Kings are hardly good, but I would put them firmly under Selfish Neutral - they behave pretty much the same way as all the other despots had, back when they were still drawing breath.

And, remember, the Tomb Kings didn't do the ripping - Nagash it was that tore them from their afterlives, kings, merchants, slaves, and all.

The Empire of Dust... we don't yet have a background for.

The KOW rule book entry on undead armies is pretty damning though when it comes to necromancy.

I like the term "selfish neutral" but i think it should be used as a euphemism for things that won't get past the word filter.

I too will ignore the Evil alignment thing.

One of my favorite parts about Tomb Kings when they first came out in 6th edition (2002? or so) was that several Kings ruled over human cities, and the inhabitants were totally fine with that. One Tomb King marched to war with human troops alongside his undead legions.
I was instantly sold, bought a huge army, haven't looked back.

Well, you don't have to ignore the Evil alignment to ally EoD with Kingdoms of Men, since the KoM list is Neutral.

Also, you could look at their alignment as an indication of who would ally with them, rather than how they think or behave.

Most people have a problem with walking and talking corpses, and are not really excited to offer them help in times of need. The corpses may be really nice and social people, it's just that their rotting flesh and unnatural existence makes it hard for them to "break the ice".

So, the Kingdoms of Dust may have some noble, yet tragic, characters in it. There may also be some insane egomaniacs in there as well. It's your story, so make it how you want it to be.

That was one of the aspects of the GW Tomb Kings that I loved. Some of the Tomb Kings were "good" people in their lives, and were trying to be "good" corpses in undeath. Many of them were either subjugated or destroyed by the arch egomaniac who had the most power. But, some still resisted.

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...

Google up Crocodile Games.

Yeah, I always loved the fact that TK were pretty much normal, reasonable people, except for being skeletons.

In KoW, being Evil, at the end of the day, only means that Elves, Dwarfs and paladins don't want to be seen at the same tea party with you. There's plenty of other cool allies out there. How about The Herd for some Egyptian/Greek myth combos?

Perfect timing. I can take the TK out of the glass case for when my group and I try KoW soon.

Also, Crocodile Games has some amazing alternative TK models. Used them for Tomb Guard and am very happy.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

I honestly do not like the early Wargods stuff.

However, Warlord and Cutting Edge looks perfect.

Make a list here, easily readable. Not quite a full printable sheet but still.

Great idea! Exalted!
Loving the list BTW; it's just that I have.... issues with spreadsheets.
