I want to get an idea out there, and see what other members of the community think, if its do-able, or even in the realm of possibility.

Im currently working on settling down on a melee styled army, and naturally Daemonkin is at the top of the list with one or two other forces. Now i'll come right out to say that no, i have never really been that big of a fan of the World Eaters, Other chaos legions have more or less piqued my interest far more then the sons of Angron. So, what, do you think is the likely hood of forces from other traitor legions to turn to a khornate warband? Specifically the thought of Iron Warriors, Word Bearers, or Alpha Legion? I have some thoughts for those three in particular, but i am unsure as to if they would really work out or not.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

The Khorne Demonkin fluff is very specifically not about the Traitor Legions. Khorne Demonkin != World Eaters, or any of the other Traitor Legions. This is why Kharn is not in the book.

What KDK are all about is groups of renegade chaos space marines who worship Khorne, forming into a Warband organised as per Khorne's sacred tomes and shedding blood/recovering skulls in Khorne's name in order to summon Khorne Demons into reality so they can continue to shed even more blood and get even more skulls.

Daemonkin are not world eaters per se, but you can paint your minis however you like and call them whatever you like. Your Daemonkin warband can be made up of marines from the Iron warriors who have broken from their usual path and now have allied themselves with khorne. I think it would be cool to see a Daemonkin army where the CSMs are all from what would normally be unaligned chapters with their original armor and colors covered in khorne symbols painted in blood to show their new allegiance.

The key is that the warband has dedicated itself totally to the worship of khorne and everything will be "Blood for the blood god!" and "Skulls for the skull throne!" no matter what the base chapter/legion is of the CSMs in it. All the base chapter/legion would do is alter the composition somewhat and the appearance.

I would expect Iron Warriors to see more of the daemon engines than berserkers, or word bearers or Alpha Legion having a lot more cultists in them and so on.

The KDK rules are great for close combat and probably any legion/traitor marines which choose to get an extra punch in close combat and probably will get a lending hand from the Blood God.

As was mentioned before you can get the rules and adapt your units to fit the legion. I am currently running my Night Lords with the rules from KDK but fill my fast with raptors and some times warptalons.

You don't need to be a World Eater to seek for the blessing of Khorne, he cares not whose blood flows

Ok guys, a lot of people don't seem to understand something. Khonre Daemonkin aren't just worshipers of Khorne, they are a specific (yet obviously fragmented) faction. So no, you cannot literally ever have a traitor legion Khonre Daemonkin army and have it be fluffy (or not as I have seen). This is also the reasoning behind Kharn not being in the book, he is a world eater not a member of a Khorneate Daemonkin. Here is the difference. Khorne Daemonkin: Slaying to bring forth the daemons from the warp for their god who they fanaticly worship. Other Khorne guys: Killing for the glory of Khorne or just to kill. The subtle difference is that Daemonkin adoration goes beyond all common reason, think of them as priests (in the only way that is possible with Khorne) of Khorne and the other guys just being murderers because he rewards them for what they do best and have grown overtime to find benefit in pleasing him. So, can you have an Iron Warriors KDK force? Yes and no. They would be part of a new warband of KDK or join with an existing one with Iron warriors and their paint scheme would only remain unchanged because they haven't had the time to change it. The closest you can get to a KDK force in the traitor legions is the sanctified WBs warband which I strongly believe to be a KDK warband based on how they act. Also, this is your army if you want a warband to be something make a fluffy reason (there are hundreds) and make it so, your army your rules.
