Hey all, i have been a gw fan for a long time, and i looked at the warscrolls for empire, and on empire state troops it said 4+ to hit and 4+ to wound. Am i missing something? or what? because i look at this and think, it's just as easy to kill a bloodthirster as it is to kill a goblin archer.

Also, if i charge, do i get an extra attack?

Lastly, is there anything to do with " always hits first " or the good old " initiative " or is everyone the same speed.

Can someone please answer these questions, because tbh, the way things look, it seems pretty broken to me.

I know it's only first edition, but surely i am at fault and gw have enough experience to make a HALF-DECENT game.

Blood Ravens, 1700pts

Empire 40 wounds

Astra Militarum 2250pts

Khorne 750pts

Space Wolves 1550pts

Orks 500pts

Hi!

You got it just right, all there's to it now is hitting on 4+ and wounding on 4+. But heroes and monsters usually have plenty of wounds to take the hits.

No extra for charging in general, some warscrolls give extra bonuses (such as charging with lances for knights).

No initiative - in your turn you pick one unit to attack with. Then your opponent picks one (can even be in a different fight), and then you go again and so on.

I thought all this sounded crazy too, but I now believe it works out pretty well in game!

Want to play a balanced Age of Sigmar?

Read the rules, they are only 4 pages.
Attilla already answered your questions, and yes, the alternating picking works pretty good imo.

The game is actually very good, and has a lot of strategy to it. Don't go with your knee jerk reactions and trying to base it on 8th edition. Its a different game. Everyone's reaction sort of runs along the same as yours. We looked at the rules, had 8th loaded in our brains, and it just doesn't seem to work. Then we play a game, get more confused but have fun. Play a second game and all the little strategies and hits of tactics start filtering in.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
