With the upcoming release of the IKS T'Ong, the Klingons are going to get their own tactical officer, a generic crewmember that doesn't require a discard.

I play Romulans in part because of the massive quantity of the generic crew available, with everything from Reman Boarding Party, Romulan Tactical Officer, Romulan Helsman, and the Romulan Security Officers to name a few, they have the ability to standardize ships and crew slots. I like the flexibility.

How do you guys feel about the fact that the Dominion, Federation, and Borg have no more than one EACH in non-unique crew?

I think we will start to more generic crew now that we are getting into ships that had less screen time. I like them, especially the Romulans

That's what I am hoping. One of my mates' has been complaining a lot about the lack of generic crew. I agree: having non-unique crew feels better than using C- or D-list crew.

It makes sense for Feds because everyone was named, and there were a few Klingons here and there but the rest of the races pickings are slim.

I think the Feds will always have unique crew, except for the Red Shirt card (which really should have cost 2 points at most, but that's a topic for another time). That just seems to be the way with the Feds. Look at the Pegasus and all the unique crew in that expansion. I would have thought all of those would have been generic, but eh. The Dominion are kind of the same way. Do they even have any generic crew?

Generic crew will be nice as long as they don't do the same thing as unique crew for the same or less points. Oh what am I saying? This is Wizkids, of course they will make newer cards that cost less but do more than unique cards!

The Klingon Tactical Officer is a very strong crew card- basically a Target Lock for a 3 point disable. He will be finding his way onto several of my Klingon ships and means I'll be buying at least two, maybe even three T'Ong's! It would be great if the Mirror Universe could get a card like this. Don't think I could pay 6 points for him on a non-Klingon ship (base 2, +3 for non-Klingon ship, +1 faction penalty).

I agree, I don't see feds getting generic crew, there are just two many named characters to need it.

For other factions they totally make sense.

Now can I have some generic jem'hadar / breen crew as good as Klingon tactical officer?

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

How about some generic Borg for crying out loud...

I hate that the Borg were designed the way they were: All big ships, so immensely powerful that all tournament legal builds are essentially minor variations on the same damn build...
But, that is for a separate thread...

I really feel like there needs to be something like a tactical officer, science officer, and helmsmen for every faction, just as a balancing issue.

Agreed, all borg should be generic except the Queen. The feds have plenty of named crew so they are covered, but all of the other factions need more generic crew.
