Subject: Warlord from a formation?

I am considering a list that is
Allied Detachment (faction 1)
Formation (faction 1)
Allied Detachment (faction 2)
Formation (faction 2)
I would make one of the ADs a CAD, but the points are tight. I found the limitation that the Warlord cannot be from an AD. I can't seem to find anything against using an HQ from a formation as a warlord. Did I miss anything?
Oh, and the formation I am thinking of has no restrictions.

The only issue is you cannot take an Allied Detachment of the same Faction as your Warlord. So if your Warlord is from Faction 1, you cannot have an Allied Detachment of Faction 1.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

"The model you choose as your Warlord also determines your Primary
Detachment." (warlord section)
so the formation would become my Primary Detachment.
"All units chosen must have a different Faction to any of the units in your Primary Detachment (or no Faction)." (AD restriction)
So the AD sharing a faction with the formation with the Warlord is illegal.
Thanks.

Warlords can come from any detachment that does not specifically forbid it(ad is the only one currently).
Detachments are either the normal foc-driven detachments, a formation, or the new multi-formation faction-specific groupings.
So lets take Space marines as an example; you could have any of the following as a detachment:
1) simple CAD, you may choose your warlord from here.
2) an armoured spearhead formation, you may choose your warlord from here; warlird will only get a trait if it is a character(techmarine, chronus or his tank).
3) allied detachment, warlord is specifically forbidden.
4) gladius strike force, your warlord can come from the demi-company or any of the other formations within.

Or an imperial knight oath sworn detachment.

Ah, yes that one too.
Although it is basically the knight's version of "Allied Detachment".
