I started in 40k about 5 years ago but never fully finished an army, i learned the rules, got partway through an ork army before they were stolen, restarted with a plague marine/deathguard army, about 50% painted before losing track of them in a divorce.
now, i picked up Dark Vengeance, an Armypainter mega set, and want to teach my new stepson the rules as well recreate/finish the deathguard army i was originally going for.
a big chunk will be space marines or other random figures from different games spliced to make my guys, i had great luck just picking through the bits bin and finding wonderful and cheap options for chaos nurgle. i like the idea of incorporating real fungus or insects, preserved in epoxy to add to the feel.
small town in northern california, hoping that once i get going and painted ill be able to recruit a couple other local players and start a group, as i believe the closest games workshop is 2 hrs away.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
