So cleaned my Iwata HP-CH like normal today, as I was putting the fluid nozzle back on with the tiny wrench it literally sheered off (I didnt crank the wrench hard, either).

Iwata customer service is awesome and said I could either send in my airbrush and they'd fix it free of charge or they could ship me a new fluid nozzle out priority. That part is great.
However, Im left with this stuck in my airbrush threads.

From what I'm told, this is a common thing and I can file down an old airbrush needle to have 3 points and try and dig it out...so far thats not working so great. Any tips? If I dont have to send it in its preferable, I dont
want to be out of action that long.

Ha - was just about to suggest the exacto knife. I had the same issue though with my cheap ebay chinese airbrush a few years back and someone suggested the exacto knife trick which worked like a charm

I only just found out that you can take this thing off on my hp-cs.

Had it for over a year.

I have never taken mine off and doubt I will ever try. I use and ultrasonic cleaner and it's very effective at getting rid of any sludge build-up in the nozzle.

Lol, the exact same thing happened to me last, but I had to buy a replacement :(

I jammed toothpick up the spout and the broken bit came out easy enough.

Poor manual brushing peasant, do you use berries for pigment?

The Iwata HP-CS has the nozzle attached to a "free-floating" tip. If you detach the nozzle, you can put it onto a CH/C+ etc, and vice versa (you need the little wrench, though).

But keep in mind, the CS comes with a 0.38 needle, and the nozzle matches that; the C+/CH comes with a 0.30, and B+/BH/A+/AH come with a 0.20 needle & nozzle. You can't (or shouldn't) mix and match the needles and nozzles, because they poke through too far or not far enough.

But I took my 0.20 needle & nozzle and stuck it on a CS, because the body is easier to clean, and I'm always paranoid about losing the nozzle when you detach it on a Plus or H series (since it's teeeeeenie).

Yeah, I had the little wrench, but was too scared to put much pressure on it. Then I had the needle jammed and used that to pull it apart.

Damn thing unscrewed - it was like an epiphany. It was like suddenly all of the worlds secrets were revealed to me.

That sucks, hope you can get it out.

For future reference, you don't really need to tighten the nozzle much at all. I don't even use the little wrench, I just put it on and off with my fingers and I've never had any issues, it'll be easier on the seals as well. I think the only time I used the little wrench was when I first bought it and it needed a bit of extra force to unjam it initially.

Yea, in the future Im just going to put a little wax on it and leave it be. I liked taking it off because I could bottle brush out the assembly, but now that I've jacked it up, I think I'll leave it alone.

Yeah still take it off to properly clean out the passages, just when you're putting it back on, don't use the wrench.
