FFG just released a new FAQ with a few interesting changes:
https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/0a/7b/0a7b939b-31ae-4690-bac8-e878cdce62e9/x-wing-faq-v311.pdf
One of the larger changes is to the Tactician crew card. The card should now have the Limited header, meaning you can only equip one per ship. Alex Davy says that, "this is an important limitation as we look forward to the addition of the Hound’s Tooth to the game."
Another big one is now barrel rolls, decloaks, and boosts cannot take a ship outside the playing area. If a ship tries any of those actions and would land outside of the playing area, they can now try another direction or choose a new action altogether. This brings it in line with how these actions interact with obstacles.
I also noticed that Feedback Array can no longer cause a ship to lose the effect of Stealth Device.

Overall fairly minor changes, but they'll have a very noticeable effect on tournaments, especially the 75 minute rounds. That's essentially another 25% of time to kill those fat turret ships, which can make a huge difference.
The change to decloaks, barrel rolls, and boosts not being able to take you off the board is a big help as well.

Considering that they put in many cards just to help against TIE swarms, I suspect that with fat turrets being such a pain (not to mention boring to play or face) they'll make some cards specifically to deal with them.

I agree, but unless it's 100% clarified, someone will try to argue otherwise.

Indeed. Stealth devices only fail when you're hit by an attack. Fantasy Flight is much more consistent with rules wording and definitions than GW is - an attack is only when you declare an attack and throw dice at someone; automatic damage like bombs, obstacles, Darth Vader, ruthlessness or assault missile 'splash' do not count.

Its going to make boosts or barrel rolls next to the edge or in a corner a no-brainer now. Used to be the guy would have to line it up and really consider his action before taking the chance...or not and choosing a different action. This only rewards sloppy flying and poor decisions while penalizing someone who was able to maneuver his opponent into this position (cornering him or setting up a kill box).
Now, he gets to try the boost/roll/decloak/etc with impunity. If he makes it, fine. If not, no consequences for his poor flying/positioning and he just does an alternate action.
Gone are the days when an opponent takes the chance and makes it by the skin of his teeth to much excitement and mutual admiration.
On the otherhand, gone also are the days of a suddenly shaky handed opponent who 'accidently' bumps his ship and ends up with the extra millimeter needed to not fall off the board.
In short, the only ways to get someone off the board is if they mess up their movement and fly off, mix up their dials so they make an illegal move (allowing their opponent to select ANY legal move), perform a RED move while stressed (again, allowing the opponent to select the move), or getting Ioned off the board.
IMHO they should have gone the otherway..allowing those moves onto and/or through obstacles with the ship taking the full effect of the obstacle (stress, damage, no shooting, etc).

I agree with you Kelly. If you declare the action, you should suffer the benefits or peril of that action.

The Tactician card is now Limited, meaning you can only have one per ship. The typical stress cow often had two. Easy there, you definitely started to head here: This isn't some great upheaval to the game. Not by a long shot. I don't know about your local scene, but here in the NoVA/ DC/MD area, I've never once seen a player barrel roll, boost, or decloak off the edge of the map in a competitive setting (or in a friendly game for that matter). This change brings it in line with not being able to preform these actions if they resulted in a ship-to-ship collision or on to an obstacle, which makes perfect sense in context to how the game is played. Your list of "the only way to get someone off the board" is the same as it's always been because you can't force another player to decloak, boost, or barrel roll in the first place.

I do not get why it needed two. The card does not say to discard after use. Shuttles do not fire more than once as far as I can see. So why waste points on a second "Tactician"?

Because each one triggers on a single shot, meaning you can stack 2 stress per turn on a target per shuttle.

That's how it worked though; two separate cards means two separate effects.

FFG is being very proactive. With the 180 degree front arc on the Hound's Tooth and it's stall maneuver, it is possible to spend several turns right at the starting board edge. This change makes it easier to approach that castle.
