First attempt at writing a list for my future Soviet army. C&c appreciated. I considered replacing the t34 with more inexperienced rifle squads and another LT. Seems like I may have too many heavy weapons and not enough troops. This comes in at 996pts

Unless I'm seeing this wrong you only have 1 platoon which means you can only have 1 sniper team and 1 field gun. Those Scout squads are cool but i think i might make the suggestion of dropping one of them and use those points plus the points saved from dropping the extra zis-3 and sniper team to get a tank rider squad and slap a flamethrower on your t-34 but other wise it looks like a good list

I always think that you need at least one large, tough infantry squad to take objectives - one that can hold its own in a Close Assault. The inexperienced units have the size, but not the weapons or experience, whereas the scout squads have everything but the size.

One unit minimum with10+ Vets of some kind, ideally with some kind of transport is the centrepiece of any of my armies, with everything else supporting.

I forgot to say that this is a Stalingrad list, allowing 2 sniper teams.

the inexperienced squads can be made fanatical, would that help them hold objectives?

not really, because they're still wounded on 3+ unless you find them a building. I agree with nick, which is why i suggested tank riders because that's 10 guys with smgs if you can afford it and body armor isn't bad on them either.

NKVD fanatics with SMGs are aces at clearing buildings. Something to think about....and a way to use all the caps heads too.
