Subject: Making Renegade Disciples Work

Hello all,
I want to have an elite army where all the troops are the same.
I can achieve this with a purge detachment of renegade disciples.
The command squad are disciples and I have six elites slots to put disciples in.
I will only use up five elites slots so that I have a rounded number of heavy weapon teams since they usually come in sets of three.
Each renegades squad will have a flak missile launcher and some or all will have chimeras
I was thinking Heretek Magus for the warlord represented by his power fist. Now all my squads have 6+ feel no pain and carapace armour and are hidden in chimeras firing out sky fire missiles or krak or chem missiles. They can only take one special each so I was going to go for Chem flamers and maybe swap the heavy flamers on the chimeras for chem flamers if they are better.
My question is for the rest of the army how do I make this work on the table top? Rules are simple: No more infantry
Models apart from disciples. Can change around the disciples into a more competitive configuration. I have no fast attack which deprives me of cheap sentinels. How can I make it work? What heavy choices would be complement these disciples (that don't have infantry attached, so no artillery batteries or rapiers)

As many russes as you can fit, wyvern batteries, and maybe a baneblade.
Honestly, the disciples will be plinking away in their chimeras or in cover while the rest do the heavy lifting. If your're looking to make them competitive, they really just arent. The only thing they have going for them in BS4, so maybe drive them around in chimeras shooting a single melta or plasgun out the top? There are more effective units for pretty much any role they could have. Even veterans can get wacky special rules and have ObSec.

I'm 90% sure that you can't run The Purge and Heretik Magus. The Purge detachment, I believe, explicitly states that it can only be used with Renegades of Vraks or Chaos Space Marines - not Renegades and Heretics. And the Vraksian renegades don't have the magus demagogue devotion.
That said, if you're running the purge and want to have your elites be the same thing... Good god man. Run Ordinance Tyrant , fill your elites up with heavy artillery carriages, and carpet bomb the feth out of the board.

Thanks for the replies guys... yes I know it's not competitive but that's the challenge to make it as competitive as possible. Disciples do have really good morale chance with fanatic and vox-caster.
Morgan - damn it you're right! I totally missed that and just checked my codex to confirm it. I can give them covenant of nurgle for the same effect but its no longer fluffy then. I already have lots of artillery I just think it's a bit of a boring playstyle and assault really will ruin your day.
Appreciate the feedback, I have lots of Leman Russes, which do you think would most effectively support my uncompetitive disciples?

Have you thought about using Renegade Grenadiers instead?
They are BS4 and can take 2 special weapons per squad plus two hot shot volley guns, and that can be given carapace armour or other cool special rules.
I think if you are also going to run lots of leman Russ I would go lots of cheap conquerors for mobility, then take lots of rapier batteries for anti tank/mc.

I did!
I think that's the only way to make this army style work.
Three squads of disciples and two grenadiers are almost exactly the same unit profile (the disciples only have weapon skill 3 but it's close enough) so I feel them all wearing the same kit and being 'the same' would work.
I'm just trying to figure out how to appropriately model hot-shot volley guns and hellguns, as I don't want to use the Scions kit and I don't like the older Karskin models.
Here is a thread where I brought up the modelling ideas:
