Hey guys I'm considering picking up a imperial bunker and strong hold assault for my Emporers Children but is it worth investing in a bunker or not? Ideally I'd use it to hide my 2 squads of 5 noise marines in to stop them from getting shot off the board so easily

You can only put one squad inside of it, as it still acts like a Transport Vehicle.
I suppose you can put one up top for a 4+ cover.

Or I could put the 2 5 man squads as 1 10 mam squad lol.
Actually might not be a bad idea for a little fire base
10 man squad inside firing out with obliterators sat on top

Depends too on what your opponent is fielding. If they can pen AV14, the buker can become a death trap. If they can't or rely heavily on grav... then lol.

Get it. The bunker is great.
It's cheap on points, allows up to 8 models to fire out of it, and is an AV14 building.
Escape chutes and other upgrades let you do all kinds of juicy stuff. Quad Gun is a choice, and it is big enough to provide cover to most big models.

Agreed on the escape hatch. Wierd as it sounds, the Imperial Bunker is actually a brilliant assault vehicle.
Deploy it on the edge of your deployment zone (12" on) and deploy a unit inside it. When you do so, you may place your escape hatch (a cheap-ish upgrade) 12" away (i.e. on the centre-line of the board).
The unit inside can disembark as per disembarking from a vehicle, which means another 6" plus the width of the escape hatch marker. That puts you within 6" of the enemy's deployment zone - and thanks to Sally Forth you can charge the turn you disembark from a building.
A unit with chainswords and a doom siren can be on top of a poorly deployed enemy front line turn 1, and - even if you're not going first - the unit is safe inside an AV14 bunker, so it's not like you're gonna lose them easily...
Theoretically you can deploy one unit inside and one unit behind - disembark the guys inside into the midfield and embark unit #2, then next turn deploy the second unit.

Actually, you can't assault from an escape hatch as per the escape hatch rules.

Correct. It says to in both the Escape Hatch and 'Repel the Enemy' rules.
That doesn't stop you assaulting out of the door, though.

White Dwarf 63, it says...
Thanks!
For a cheaper alternative, I still like the quad plasma cannon dev squad hiding in a bunker or bastion. Toss in the ammo for a reroll if you'd like.
