So,

Trying to learn how to paint and have been trying loads of different things with the first spru in the AoS starter set ... but I cant see to "wet blend" the wings on the Storm-cast Prosecutors at all ... I've watched some tutorials on blending and managed to get it working on a shield, but really want to try and get a blue going to white at the tips look on the wings and I am stumped....

Anyone got any tips or hints on how to make this happen?

Cheers,

Grady!

Start with blue, and mix slightly varying amounts of white into the blue, finish with pure white.

It is up to you how many variations you use; the more variations will/should give you a smoother transition, while the fewer will require you to do a few things to cover up the shortcuts you took. Namely glazes afterwards to blend the transitions.

I suggest reading the following article:

It always helps people grasp the concepts of layering a little better. You don't need to be so extreme with the paint consistency as suggested in the article (they are talking about high end show pieces) but the placement of the paint and concepts remain the same.

You could try a glazing technique. Start with the wings white. Put more layers of blue glaze closer to the middle of the wing. Eventually it will build up a good transition.

Dont try and wet blend on wings.. The small feathers will be fiddly and nightmarish to blend on. Id try layering, or maybe use an airbrush.

They don't have wings with feathers and a dry brush is totally out of the question!

@ Winter - Thanks! Will give it a look when I am home.

@ AUGmaniac - Can I make a glaze from a regular pot of paint that I have? Or are they made differently?

Thanks!
