Subject: Blood Angels Tactical Squad Model Question
|
 |
Been Around the Block

Hi all,
I have a Blood Angels Tactical Squad from the last generation of models where you used the add on pieces
with a normal tactical squad.
That being the case, I was wondering how different those look compared to the newest models. I know there
was talk that the sculptors decided on the 32mm bases to have more freedom, so I was wondering if they will
look different side-by-side with the last generation of models.
Thanks.

There is no last generation of a Blood Angels Tac Squad, only vanilla Tac Squads.
The new vanilla Tac Squads are better casts but look very similiar to the last few generations.
The Blood Angels Tac Squad has tons of bling, and will probably look like Veterans next to a vanilla Tac Squad painted as Blood Angels.
32mm bases look very cool and fitting on Marines, though. Makes them look bulkier and bigger than they are.

I'm guessing the "last generation" ones you're talking about are either the plastic Death Company squad that came out in 5th edition or some old metal//plastic hybrids from back in the day. Either way, they'll look totally fine next to each other, and you can mix and match the bits freely. The bases are just bigger.

Thanks for the response folks.
Yes, I was talking about the ones that came out for 5th Edition. I think I still have a squad built out as Death Company, and another built out as a Tactical Squad. I honestly can't remember though.
I have enough of the 32mm bases to put all of them on, and was just thinking about picking up one of the newer Blood Angels Tactical Squads. I just didn't know if I could mix them with the older ones I have now without them looking off.

They look fine next to each other. A lot of the armour iconography in the new BA tactical squad set is pretty similar to the armour and shoulder pads that the Death Company set has. Also the Sanguinary Guard box has a torso with loin cloth that looks pretty much exactly the same as the new BA tactical sergeant torso.
