Hey all,
Whilst I applaud the various efforts to point out AoS armies I've been pondering a different approach, similar to azyr comp system the aim is to keep it as simple as possible.

This one's based on warscroll numbers, it does not attempt to be 100% fair but more of a quick and dirty system to chuck some models down and get playing.

Each player agrees a warscroll limit for the game (say 10 scrolls for a quick game etc)

Any warscrolls with the following key words take an additional warscroll slot per keyword (the effects are cumulative)

HERO
WIZARD
MONSTER
WARMACHINE
or
Unique named characters

So a Lord Celestant on foot would count as 2 scrolls (1 base plus 1 for HERO keyword), a Greater Daemon of Tzeench 4 (1 base plus, WIZARD, MONSTER and HERO keywords)

So forth and so on.

I've reviewed my past few games and this seems fairly balanced and broadly in line with other points systems. There are a few quirks (hero's are a bit more than they should be and lower quality wizards come in over pointed but as a fast way of putting a force together it works for me)

I don't know if this really does much in the way of balancing. I get it'll make taking some models (Belakor and the like) a little less appealing. But for some armies who have a mixture of keywords on a model that might not even be that good suffer as well.

Like you said, heros end up often costing too much. Wizards will often be too overcosted as well and some wizards suck as it is.

Honestly, I'm finding more and more of these player made 'balance' systems are not appealing in any way. My local group has no issues playing the game as it is, with only a wound system in place for 'points' and that works out perfectly for them. Everything else is just too much hassle to care about.
