I imagine most of the more liberal leaning members simply don't bother participating in discussions (many of the political threads are started by the conservative leaning members, so the topics tend to be things they care more about anyway). If there is a topic to discuss, OT has discussed it already at least a dozen times and every time ends pretty much the same way, so why bother?
