Hey all,

I've been skimming through a lot of the Battalion warscrolls today and wonder if these are the balancing factor GW are bringing to the table.

There are a couple of obviously much weaker ones (ungor ambush for example) but these may be for more specific uses (Ambush game, Battle, large battle perhaps?)

but the others seem to be fairly reasonably balanced based on number and type of warscrolls along with special abilities and battalion special abilities. Assuming nobody is an arse drops a unit of 100 miniatures down as a single scroll.

Has anyone played any games with battalion vs battalion to confirm this any further?

Thoughts? Commets etc

I played with my girlfriend that way. I used the Greenskins Big Mob and she had Althran Stormrider's Host. Although I lost it was due to bad rolls, otherwise the game seemed rather even. Bunuses vary in usefulness (running and charging/shooting is great, while +1 bravery for the elfs is not that great, but still very usefull), but overall for us batallions are a great way to balance the game. You just have to agree on tha amount of wounds in a unit/

Yes, I too was under impression that the Battalions were somewhat balanced between each other. Not sure about how the Empire one holds up against, say, Dark Elves or Ogres, but Orcs, Goblins, Dwarfs and Beastmen seem to be reasonably built and, apparently, they seem to be somewhere near the AoS starter forces in terms of power level (give or take a single unit difference).

I also love the little synergies between the units in Empire battalion - both from the special traits coming with the pre-set and the two General choices that affect how you will play your army!
