Anyone know if the company's any good?

Another pen-and-paper game for The Witcher is in the works and Cyberpunk 2020 creators R.Talsorian Games are involved.

CD Projekt RED announced the partnership on the new tabletop game over on The Witcher forums.

The chairman of R. Talsorian Games is none other than Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith.

While The Witcher Role-Playing Game doesn’t have an exact release date, CDP said the game will “allow tabletop RPG fans to re-create an array of characters known from the Witcher universe and live out entirely new adventures set within the world of Geralt of Rivia.”

Implementing the Fuzion ruleset from Cyberpunk 2020, the game will allow players to cast a myriad of spells, rituals, and curses. There will also be gear and items from the Witcher series including a bestiary of monsters.

The system will provide “all the necessary tools” for players to create their own adventures and become a monster slayer or even a “merchant kingpin controlling a vast network of contacts.” Lovely.

The Witcher Role-Playing Game is expected sometime in mid-2016 release.

Cyberpunk 2020 has quite the good reputation, so yeah, they might pull it off more than just decent.

Cyberpunk 2020 is a fantastic setting, but the rules are really only so-so at best. I haven't played Witcher, so I can't speak to the setting specifically, but for C2020 the rules are insanely easy to abuse, have lots of fluff bits that don't serve any real purpose, and are generally 'meh' at best. The decking/hacking system (which would naturally not be a part of the Witcher setting) is one of those "you either are a god at it, or you're dead meat" binary systems that almost creates a game within a game.

Which is really a shame, because I love Cyberpunk.

I've not played any of their R Talsorian's stuff recently but what steamdragon says chimes with my memories too

nice books, well written background, but actual game system was OK at best and a bit random in parts, so probably fine for an experienced group/GM who would figure out what bits to ignore/modify, but not much use for the inexperiences

Lol... it's by R. Talsorian Games... Mekton Zero doesn't have an exact release date since it missed the original one almost two years ago after crowdfunding.
