Hi guys,

I have a Sammael on the way for my Dark Angels army and have noticed that he is based on a large flying base.

Gameplay-wise, do you think it would be acceptable to mount him on a bike base instead?
The large round flying base is... well large... and to me it seems as though it would throw out the aesthetic when combined with a unit of black knights, as they are all (obviously) on bike bases.

I can't find any examples of him on a bike base so i don't even know if it would look silly anyway...

HALP!

I think he might tip over- I'd go with a terminator or dread base. There's also some company that makes bike-style ones that are 40mm wide, IDK since I got mine used, though.

Game/mechanics, I'd be fine with whatever.

Thanks for the reply mate.
Yeah i've seen the wider bike bases - might be worth looking into.
The sammy i have coming is resin, so my thought was the weight wouldn't be enough for him to tip.. but you could be right..

I know some people get really touchy about base sizes because they apparently give advantages/disadvantages...
Cheers

I'm pretty sure GW's policy is packaged base or larger? Either way, if someone's touchy about it, explain it to them and have the spare circle around and allow them the option of using that to measure distance on the model. If they're still cranky, they'll probably be no fun to play with anyway.

Realistically, the sudden swap to a new base size for several armies should indicate that the game isn't that fine-tuned anyways.
