So I recently played some games and I thought I was using some fun armies rather than over powered builds and one thing I did was run foot guard but instead of using multiple blobs I ran all the infantry squads by themselves.

Each squad at least had some special weapon and a vox. I used order pretty often with just a ccs and a pcs and using massed lasgun Fire I really crippled a nid/corn army. I was surprised it had worked but I had so many guardsmen in so many areas running all over that he could just focus on one main blob in the center of the board.

Has anyone else had success with this? And has this been used in and tournaments?

Not really a tactics update.
This is an example of MSU in action. If the opponent cannot target them all fast enough, they will get an advantage.

Their weaknesses are big Blast weapons, and morale damage.

Sorry I fixed the titles post. I originally started a guard tactics thread for the new codex a while back and it went like 40 some pages so I figured I would do an updated thread.

But yes I normally never played it before because I never had enough and once I did I always heard everyone saying blob is the way to go and that's all I played. I've also played mech guard pretty often too.

One of the disadvantages I saw was since I'm not using heavy weapons in a blob I had very little long range anti tank. I had a vendetta, vanquished pask and a battle tank. So what I would think is what should I add to possibly increase the anti tank??? Deepstriking melta scions has sometimes proved useful.

Honest answer?

Get some SM allies in Drop Pods.

Having tried to tailor a list to anti-armour before, the IG is incredibly sub-par, and ludicrously ineffective at mid to long range anti-armour.

We're also ineffective at DS stuff, too.

You could try getting a CCS with 4x Meltaguns in a Vendetta, though.

If you're using platoons as MSU use SWS and HWS. Like, max for your platoons. Same concept, when you have something like a dozen squads on the table that can threaten your opponents tanks, half of them in cover, he has to expend a lot of fire power to suppress them.

Also Sentinals, and devil dogs, if you have the FA slots.

The only problem I've found with going with marine allies is that they usually tend to become the main force and I want my guard to be my bigger and main detachment. I don't exactly want to have to lean to another codex to compensate the weaknesses. I mean it's fluffy and fun but i don't exactly have the money.

I do like the idea of sws and hws. I do have extra of those and will have to give that a try. Sentinels are alright as I've found out but they could be worth the try to get some more small units running around lol
