New toys! Dark Mechanicum ftw. The theme here will be very much Dark Mechanicus, but not aggressively so. I wanted to have a dark Mechanicus theme without being overly chaotic, cost and time being the major factors in not having the bits etc.



So an army in servitude will be the theme. Dark and Chaos leaning HQ’s such as Draykayvic, but regular troopers in dark black chains or appearing brainwashed instead.



Cheap being the optimal word so apart from the cheap roll of 2mm chain to string from head to hands, coupled with a classic black colour scheme the only other touches of servitude added at this point would be the generic orange halo around the Thallax’s head to represent outside influence and some green glyphs on their shoulders as 30k Chaos ‘branding’.



As I’m used to Guard this was a nice change of pace to get 600 odd points painted relatively quickly.
5 coats of varnish on the heads for gloss (I just used Tamiyas stock gloss)

Some heat warping across the Barrels, and some simple weathering too.


Because I’m a sadist I also chose some handpainted blue OSL for the jets. For all of them!

With such a heavy snow basing theme I'd be tempted to try white rims? I'm usually against that sort of heresy but here it might work.
