I'm curious as to what the Tau players on dakka have as thier background. Do you use the given septs? If you created your own Sept, what is it and what is it's background?

There was a reason my Tau ran with Noise Marines, those little guys know how to party if you get rid of the up-tight Ethereal.

Made up my own sept. Had it get mostly destroyed in a daemonic invasion and now my forces are more nomads/mercenaries working with some inquisitors.

My Tau force (not a Sept as its more so a colony/outpost) is stationed on some former backwater imperial world that joined with / was claimed by the Tau. Being a rather remote and semi unimportant world it avoided much of the heavy fighting with the Imperial during the Crusade but the planet does undergo attacks from multiple enemies ranging from Imperial Guard to Orks and Necrons.

The Tau on this planet are somewhat cut off from the main Tau space due its remote location along with its often heavy xenos incursions in the sector. The Tau are scrapping by on limited supplies, troops, and advanced Earth Caste production facilities. They do not have access to the more advanced tech like the Riptides and had to perform field modifications to their Broadsides to incorporate the Earth Caste specs for HYMPs.

Until recently the Tau forces where operating without a Commander or Ethereal as the old leadership died in the heavy fighting with the Imperial forces. The infantry rallied behind Sub Commander Sunspear as the cadre's Fireblade and Sub Commander Shadowstep who leads the cadre's pathfinder division. With their leadership they helped maintained the troop morale and regained control of the planet despite fierce opposition. Some reinforcements have made it to the planet bringing with them a new Ethereal and Commander to help solidify the Cadre and direct their actions in line with the needs of The Greater Good.

My Cadre is from T'au Sept. However they are an elite first response unit often called in to deal with threats the Tau haven't encountered before. As a result of this they have many advanced prototypes in their arsenal including an XV22 Stealth Suit, an XV104 Battlesuit and an XV02 Pilot Battlesuit.

While still bearing the white sept marking of T'au they're armour is a dark blue with ice blue lenses and they have a khaki under-suit.

This is all very interesting, I like these ideas, my Sept (don't have models yet), is stationed on an ice planet and is controlled by the local Necrons. It also holds several orbital platforms
