Hey guys, new to space wolves and really like the idea of a heavy Thunderwolf cavalry list. I have 6 twc models and a stormfang (given to me) so I really would like to incorporate those models. I'm planning on running the Canis supplement and using two iron priests on tw mount to fulfill the elite requirement. Everything after that, I have no idea what to do. What HQ should I run? What are the advantages of the three options (harad, canis, wolf lord), disadvantages? Should I add cyberwolves to the HQ and iron priests? As far as twc go, is it better to try to squeeze in two squads of 5-6 or just go with a ridiculously strong group of 6? Also what itemizations are the most advantageous and efficient. Any other ideas on units that would work well with the list would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks,

So, there are a couple different ways people are running Wolfstar these days.

1) You can go WGBL+2xIP+6xTWC; with a sprinkling of cyberwolves for ablative wounds in there. It's relatively cheap, but has no psychic element and is best run along side another deathstar, like Superfriends.

2) You can go all out. Wolf Lord+2-3xIP+max Cyberwolves+6x TWC+Full Librarius Conclave. This is what I do. It's insanely expensive. In fact, it's my entire army. I have no dedicated troops, shooting, etc. But, I have 10 ICs that can split off to score or wipe MSUs. And the unit itself is a psychic monster, with excellent chances at invis and endurance to make it nigh unkillable. This route is truly RPS. A Cullexus ruins my day, and it takes mistake-free play to win against a Gladius-style MSU, as one false move or misread can set me way back in VP. And sometimes, I'll just get alpha struck off the table if I get bottom turn against the wrong list.

3) You can add IPs and WGBLs to SM grav command squads. This is the much more shooty version; although obviously your focus is more SM than SW.

#3 is probably the most competitive overall. I just happened to really enjoy seeing peoples eyes pop when I deploy and they say, "It's just one big unit?" .... "Yup." ..."How many points is it?" .... "1850..."

Thank you for the reply. What exactly is super friends? I think the third option would be more competitive, but I'm looking to play more SW. But the second option you posted sounds like a ton of fun, how exactly does it work with the conclave and everything? Does the conclave run by themselves or do they somehow join the wolf unit to make it a legit, singularly massive unit?

How do you usually play the army? How do you like to set up and how do you like to attack certain armies? Im really curious. For psychic powers do you go for invis first then bio, and if you get them early, what else do you like to shoot for as a bonus?
