So recently I got bitten by the Planet Side 2 bug and started to play again, only to find that every attempt at more than 40 seconds of living is foiled by about 50 pounds of lead. I want to know if there is any way to boost up health so you can't just die within two hits from a bleeding laserpointer, be it certs or something.
Also, are there any friendly NC outfits that would be fun to join still hanging around out there?

My advice would be to cert Nanoweave Armour. When maxed out it negates 20% small arms damage. Doesn't seem very much, but it does make the difference.
Also if you have a utility slot try and carry a medical kit, useful if no medic is around. As it sucks when you get into a 1v1 fight with a chunk of health missing from a prior engagement.
But the best advice would be to stay next to other players as much as possible, it can be very unforgiving when running off on your own. As chances are you'll more likely run into a group of enemies than a single one.

Yeah I got sucked into it this weekend. Thought I would drop it pretty quickly when I just died and died and died but quickly got the hang of it. I hate to imagine what my K/D ratio is from all those early deaths but I'm generally getting 2 or 3 kills for every death now. Got more than one 5 and 6 kill streaks in my last couple of games the other night so its looking up.
I think it may just be a case of finding a class you like. I've found that heavy assault with a chain gun and I'm ripping through even large groups of guys before they get me.
Sniper I am awful with. Is there anyway to stop the scope sway? I can't hit a cows behind with a banjo with that sway going on.
But yeah, good advice from Valres there. Group up and don't be afraid to use your team as a meat shield

There is a key to 'Hold Breath' which I think is shift. And it stops the scope sway for a moment while you take your shot.
Sniping can be difficult though, as you tend to need to get a headshot otherwise the person starts running around / jumping by the time you've lined up a second. And with that a powerful bolt action rifle is usually the weapon of choice. Infiltrator is quite a hard class to master but just knowing how to choose your contacts is key. (Eg - Shooting at a Heavy who is running with their shield on isn't the best choice, but a light assault standing around / enemy infiltrator on the other hand is).
As for K/D mine is probably around 0.8 as I'm not the best but I mostly play as a support class, so mostly at a disadvantage against Heavy units, etc.
But this game tends to focus less on that compared to other games I think. It tends to be that a team is only as good as the medics healing and reviving them or the engineers repairing and supplying them with ammo.

I don't think you can play it like Call of Duty or Medal of Honor and expect to be good.
It's very much a team-oriented game. If you go off on your own, you'll be dead very, very quickly. As part of a team, you'll be dead just very quickly instead.
Dying is part of the game. And you'll die plenty of times. My buddy that plays CoD and MoH just can't get a grip on it. He thinks he's playing wrong cause he dies a lot. And to him, that's not fun.

If I get a 0.5 K/D, it's been a good day.
I play as Engineer almost all the time, so I don't get the kills, the Maxes and Heavies do. I just keep the Maxes upright and the Heavies loaded.

And good engineers and medics are the crown jewel in any squad, and we thank you for keeping the meat-grinder churning. I don't have the mentality for support classes, but I certainly appreciate those that do.

I think you select 'weapon' 3, or hold F.

Well for reviving when you have the Med Tool out you hold the right mouse button for reviving, the left is for just healing.

Well my brief reign of a decent k/d ratio is probably over. Got whomped last night. Got 20 kills but probably died 50 times. Just could not get a decent run going until near the end, when I got 10 kills in 5 deaths and even then that includes my one good run when I got 5 kills in a row from people walking next to my cap point hidey hole and getting LMGd to death (3 guys killed in one sustained burst was awwweeee-sommmmeee)

And my brief play last night I think I got 1:1. That also included a fantastic moment of catching a cluster of guys standing outside a spawn point, shooting the breeze I guess because they were all just standing there not doing anything. Gave em the full mag, 5 kills, last man standing got me. Glorious Automatically Appended Next Post: Having finally managed to track down where the stats are kept, my k/d ratio is a quite horrible 0.7. As I expected, my bursts of skill are pulled down by the endless valleys of how much I suck
PS2 name is Melvazord. If you see me kicking about, feel free to shoot me in the face, everyone else apparently has.
