Hi,

Not sure if this is in the correct forum or not but I'm looking at starting AoS and was able to pick up an Ogre Kingdoms battalion box fairly cheaply to use as a starter. I'm currently planning on how to build the models, I have an idea but would like some advice.

I'm considering:

I Ogres unit - 6 Ogres, armed with a mixture of Iron Fist & club and double clubs, look out Gnoblar and Tribal Banner, bellowers

1 x Ironguts unit - 1 Gutlord, 5 Ogre Ironguts, Rune Maw Bearer, Bellowers

1x Leadbelchers unit - 1 Thunderfist, 3 Ogres, Bellowers

I'm unsure of how the bellowers work. Are they dedicated units that can only use the bellower skill or can they use their units basic attacks as well? (ie can a Leadbelcher Bellower use a leadbelcher gun as well as the bellower skill?) Also is there a limit to how many can be used?

My plan for this army is to also pick up a Butcher and eventually a Tyrant and another box of Ogres which would enable my to field a Gutbuster Wartribe.

Any comments/criticisms/suggestions are welcome.

Preemptively welcome to the fold. Ogres are a blast to play in AoS.

A good discussion of many of the current units can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/657583.page

In regards to the battalion, it is a great set to get you going. The Tyrant and Butcher are also excellent additions.

Bellowers are a unit upgrade, but like banners and a champion. Traditionally you would have one of each per unit. There is currently nothing technically stopping you from having multiples in a unit currently. Currently being the key term there, as I would expect something to be officially announced down the line. Most of the people that I play with have just made a house rule of one of each command model per unit. In regards to weaponry, unless stated otherwise they have the same equipment as everyone else in the unit. and operate in an identical fashion, save that they will grant an additional bonus while they are alive.

Hope this clears up your questions.

Okay, so you got two most useful characters and a battalion - literally the best one in the whole game, even in 8th ed because with an addition of ironblaster, mournfangs and heroes you had full 2400 points ETC army out of it for 1/3 the price of a regular WFB army! The big thing is - you get enough Irongut parts to build TWO units of six ironguts, because the command group doesn't use up any of the parts (maybe aside from the bellyplates) and with a little creative invention you can make them all into ironguts.

And I'm telling you that because they were absurdly powerful in WFB and they're absurdly powerful in AoS!

With the remaining parts you could turn those Leadbelchers (which are fairly terrible in my opinion) into either regular ogres, or get a separate ironguts box for another unit to convert up.

Also the monsters - Ogre Kingdoms' monsters are stupid good and it's a sin to not take one in AoS, especially because they look fantabulous!

You want to go with maximum amount of ironguts that you can get out of the box - they are even better in AOS than in 8th edition.
Also you will want at least a couple of wizards - either butchers or fire bellies as magic is as powerful as it ever was.
