Hey guys,

Im thinking of getting back into Infinity and I am wondering what changed from N2 to N3.
Is there anything really big or just some polishing ?

Thanks !

From what I've heard, there's a serious amount of polish.

Lots of tweaks, from weapon ranges to stats and points costs.

An overhaul of Hacking, new Command Tokens and changes to cut down on unopposed rolls - there's usually something that you can do when someone tries to do something to you, no matter how slim your chances are.

Everything improved! Well, pretty much everything. The rules are better written, better organized, etc. Hacking and Close Combat are expanded. There are a fair number of new units and skills. And a few other bits added on. However, the core of the game remains. You should have no trouble making the transition, just read the N3 rules carefully to see what has changed. It is a very well written ruleset.

That said, a few of the old issues still persist. But this time, CB has someone answering questions and maintaining a FAQ. Plus there is the wiki.

Jump back in. The change from 2nd ed to 3rd ed is, this time, an improvement

I thought the wiki wasn't updated yet?

But, yeah, the change from N2 to N3 was more evolution than overhaul. The core mechanics - orders, AROs, face to face rolls, etc are all the same, tweaked here and there.

Where the game changed was in expanding on old rules (hacking has become almost a game in itself), better explaining of rules and better translations.

If you still somewhat know N2, then N3 will feel right at home.

Wiki went up a week or two ago.

Not a massive amount of noise was made about it, but it happened!

The new wiki went live last week.

Von Skyfury, take a look at my edition change summary on the wiki: http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Summary_of_Edition_Changes

Effectively everything was re-written although as Loki says the core mechanics are almost unchanged apart from ties cancelling and crits cancelling.

Thanks guys !

And thanks to CB's awesomeness, the rules are free =)
But I'll still eventually order the rule book, it seems to look fantastic.

If you want it for the rules portion, don't bother. Since they posted up the FAQs my Rulebook has not left its slipcase.
