Hi Dakka,

i have a problem at the moment and i want your oppinion.
since most of my friends and myself work much (60 hours a week) we dont have much time to play.
sometimes its only 1 time in 2-3 months.
these days are "celebrated" we have drinks, bbq etc.
most of the games we do are some small ones in the beginning and then an apoc game with 10000-12000 points a side.
all of us prepare for these days very well and we all want to have fun.
one point thats bugging me is that most of the guys have their specific army since 2-3 years and even they buy many new models from forge etc they dont build em and it takes alot of a time for them to finish them painting.

i personally think about buying a warlord titan for my dkok army since i always wanted such a big great model.
then i see that the people have a real hard time against my reaver when i bring him so i guess they would be totally shocked by such a model.
so if i bring him to a game i would ruin everyones gaming day and as i said we dont have much of them.
i experienced very much the same with my manta, i was bringing it to a game one time and due to bad tactics and the sheer power it left a bad taste in everyones mouth.

anyone knows a solution for this problem?

Since you are obviously playing in a friendly setting, my answer is simply to make sure your friends are informed what will be on the table when you play. I like building models (maybe not painting as much, but building) almost as much as painting, so as long as you enjoy that aspect I say buy what ever you like.

Myself though, when I get into a new game for example, I very much so think about my gaming group and try to find an army/faction that I both like, and no one else is playing so as to add some variety to our group.

I buy what I want to buy and play with what I think is fun to play with. Now with that being said. I dont bring cheesy stupid hard lists every time I play. It also like to spice it up, like an all footdar and aspect Eldar army, lol I get laughed at until I win. If my opponent says hey lets play a hard game, I will put something on the table that is deadly, but it is agreed upon.

But back to you, talk to your friends, if they wont like playing against it and would think it was unfair then dont get it. But if you play against other people and you might get to use it some other time and you want to model and paint it then get it.

As has already been said, talk to the other players. Maybe they would relish the challenge to try and take on a warlord titan and can prepare their lists accordingly, assuming they can.

We played an apocalypse game a few months ago and had a couple of superheavies a side. It was a lot of fun. The only problems was that only one side had ranged D on their superheavy and this unbalanced things a little, but not too much to stop a good game.

I really don't concern myself with what the other gamers think of my army. I don't have any stupid cheap or gamebreaking units, and can't effectively utilize other people's because my Army sucks with allies, so no. Nothing I can buy is that bad.
