Hey guys,
Would appreciate feedback on my first Bolt Action list. Doesn't have to be particularly competitive, just want to make sure what I'm putting together makes sense from a historical perspective, and isn't awful. This encompasses pretty much my entire collection, minus a few units and HQ models. Painting scheme is going to be based on the 83rd Infantry division, the Thunderbolts.

Why the major? If you have the models, a third squad of infantry would be better and more useful.
What else do you have model wise?

I have the model and am pretty concerned about my units functioning properly. I can definitely replace him with a nice healthy unit of infantry though.
I have all this, plus another observer and a few infantry.

Regular will be taking more pin tests, but a Major plus a First Lt. is overkill at 1000 points.
I would avoid a 6 man team, try and bulk up to ~8man. You can pull the extra men off the Lt and Observer and use them to bring the 6 man up to 8.
The other thing might be to drop one squad and pick up a Half Track or Truck.
Mortars are good, as are Howitzer. On paper they don't look tremendously useful with indirect fire, but the fact they will make people move teams is big. Shy of heavy tanks, the Howitzer will also be useful do to striking top armor.

Add a spotter to the mortar. Being able to keep your mortar out of line of site and having a hidden spotter in a tree somewhere is a nice asset.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

So, you could drop the two extra men, put one in as a spotter and one in the 6 man squad to make it 7. That will add some ablative capabilities to them, but dropping one of the 10 man squads to 9 and taking it to 8 or dropping two SMGs and taking it to 8 may work better.
You could also drop the pintle HMG. Unless playing other US players you will only face 1 possible airstrike in the game, which will be somewhat limited due to 4 squads of guys, and loads of team weapons. Artillery has a higher potential damage output anyways, so I'm not sure you'll face much Air Power (depends on local players).
At the local store not many folks take air units unless they are US.

Good call on dropping the pintle HMG. Lets me bump up a squad to 8 and take the spotter.

Is the first post your list?
You should always always always add that third MG to the Sherman.
Remember, vehicles can fire their weapons at different targets.
So a Sherman with coax MG, hull MG, pintle MG, can put a pin on three different units.

Yes, I edited the first rather than posting again.
Didn't know that. I will have to juggle points around some more to fit that in...
