I've tried many different variations of this army list and this is my most refined one.

I see this as a last defensive wall, erected to protect the hive spawning pools, digestion pools or capillary towers.

Imagine a Space Marine strike force attempting to neutralize some key Tyranid constructs or biomass, having already bypassed the main swarm or attacked whilst it is away. Maybe they came in via drop-pod or slogged through a jungle etc. hoping to come across the Tyranids unawares but instead finding the sky darkening and swarming with devilish balls eager to explode in their faces. Their bolters can't hope to keep the deluge at bay and slowly but surely they die one by one when the explosions batter them down. Even if by some miracle they suffer through that downfall or even during the spore assault, a defence Carnifex charges in to break them.

You need some scoring units, unles you are not playing with objectives... but that would be a fun list (depending on what the other guy does) unless y sit the sporocysts on the objectives (or make 'em enter via DS and pray they fall on them)

Spore fields are fun, but I agree that you need some sort of scoring...you are thinking spawning pools, so how about a Tervigon for the HQ? (With a Thorax hive )

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER

I'd either forget about the objectives or try sitting the Sporocysts on them. Either way, I'm more about drowning the enemy in spore mines

I do agree a Tervigon would be more competitive and more useful (Psyker + Spawning Termagaunts), but for ease of playI think I'm going to stick with OOE.
(No worrying about synapse, warp charges, spawned termagaunt movement (I have enough movement as is with the spore mines) etc.)

Thanks for the input from both of you though!

Just a question though, would you guys have fun facing this list or would you find it boring?

It would be fun playing it... but as against it... dunno... he may be fristrated, he must fire to the mines or other way he will be blown up, I'd sit the infiltrated spores from sporefield on advanced objectives, so your opponent will think twice before trying to secure one... wasting turns firing 8specially of the sitting are mucolids with shroud)
Meanwhile, Sporocyst firing venom and spawning more mines... hope you have enought spres

Hmm, maybe to make it more fun, we'd have to do some special missions like --
Last Stand, see how long you can last (or even if you can prevail) against the Spore Mines coming from all sides.
VIP extraction mission, insert through the tide of spore mines... retrieve a VIP and then get out whilst keeping him alive etc.

Could be quite interesting if done that way.

Yes, I'm pro playing that kind of missions instead of Just jump on the battlefield and fire at everything... that gives more thinking (for me Thinking = Fun) That's why with my friends we roll a D12 to pick a mission to play
