Hi chaps,

Really quick one for those who know the hobby far better than I do.

I want to start 40k and have nothing, hence why I've been searching for a 'start-up' deal on eBay UK etc.

I've found one that is charging £60 (that'll cost about £20 to collect, so £80 all-in) and the images below shows most of the deal's contents. Would hugely appreciate input on whether this is a good or bad deal. First reaction was that it is a corker and includes all I need to get started with the hobby!

Image looks like it includes:

- Citadel Paint station and some new-ish paints
- clamps/couple of brushes/paint box
- 40k rule book and rulers
- GW carry case and foam
- A bunch of orks and some vehicles
- Ork Stompa (boxed/part asssembled but not painted)
- Killa Kans (boxed)
- Grey Knights (boxed)
- Imperial Bastion
- £20 GW voucher (valid till December 2015)

I want to collect Eldar, so I'm thinking I could sell all the ork stuff...thanks in advance for advice!

That's a pretty good deal, IMHO (although Orks are seriously underpowered right now, so I don't know how easy they are to sell).

Also, that rulebook looks like an older (5th?) edition? We're up to 7th edition now. A mini 7th rulebook will cost you about £20-£25 on ebay.

40k rulebook is outdated by two editions. Useless.
Rulers - no need, you will want a proper measuring tape.
Paint station is nothing you really need. Paints may be nice, but depend on the colours you want to use.
Carry case and foam - nice.
Every other stuff - if you play Eldar, you might only keep the bastion and have everything else to sell.

I say go for it, if you want to invest your time to sell the unwanted stuff.
Otherwise, wait for a more fitting deal.

Great knowledge on the rule book, thanks for that chaps.

Yeah, I'll probably go for it now I've done a bit of searching. I don't mind selling on the models and it looks like there are enough/have a decent enough RRP to sell on a recoup a good portion of the £60 to be honest. The Stompa alone looks like it's £70 RRP, I do appreciate I'll get nowhere near that!

And the good thing about the stompa if you are not going to use it, it's not painted or completely assembled. That will make re-selling it so much easier. It's always tough to sell a painted unit because people want to make sure it matches their armies scheme.

But as for the price on it, amazing deal, I'd jump on it. Carrying case is awesome, if you dont have any paints now, thats great, theres money to earn back with the stompa and the bastion is cool to have whether you use it in your army or just for battlefield terrain.
