Hey all, this is my first attempt at a P&M Blog in, TBH I think this may be my first. I’ve gotten a bit more time to spend on gaming this year and I’m getting back into a hobby-habit. With the release of AoS and my groups “skirmish” level games of it I wanted to create a few forces. Starting with...

Project #1: Skarlocs Wood Elf Archers
This was the first boxed set I ever bought way back when. In memory of them and the changes in the systems WFB has moved through since then thought I’d put together a small 10 model force for my groups AoS Heroic Skirmish games.

I have two sets of miniatures for this, the original and those from the current range I’ll use to represent them. I’m hoping to use the original minis as basing elements either as a wooden or stone statue on the bases of the corresponding modern miniature. Given the size of the miniatures I’ll probably need to use 32mm bases.

I’m keen to crack-on but I need to work out how to place them on the bases, plan out the minimal conversions I’ll need to do, all the while hoping that this is within my skill range...

Command Group: This pic shows the original minis together with The two I’m undecided on are;
• The Spellsinger standard bearer, do I use the original banner top or the newer one?
• The Musician will be the trickiest as I’ll need to carefully remove the harp from the miniature on the far right and use that in place of the bow for the Waywatcher lord.

The Waywatchers: these will be more straight forward as I just need to figure out how to attached both minis to the base.

Hey all,

I haven't been able to focus on gaming for a while given family things but, thankfully I'm back into it again!

Clipped and based up the original Skarloc figures. My next step is to build up the bases to give the impression that they have been there so long that they have been half buried and are overgrown. It will mean raising up some of the newer figures and adding in a lot of branches, deadwood etc...

I'm leaning toward painting them as stone with patches of moss and entwined in roots. My other half suggested adding in a banner or ribbon tied to each one to represent them begin somehow venerated. It's a pretty cool idea.

Because we’re here,lad...

There's some great relics there. A really nice way to use some of the old figures.

Bash

I love those little moments between the first kiss and the pepper spray...

First time I've picked up a brush in nearly a year... lets get back to it!

I've had a quick painting test on one of the bases. I think I'll need to use a bit of foliage/grass to break up the summer green but I'm happy with the direction it's heading in. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I've also taken a bit of a swing at a Khador warjack that's undergone a bit of a field repair due to corrosion damage. I had started this a while back but motivation has kicked in again...

Started a new project today. I’ve begun to build up a Sensei warband, from the Lost and the Damned published in 1990. It’s a 6 strong skirmish style warband comprised of;
• The Sensei - Immortal biological child of the Emperor. The mini will most likely be based on the Skitarii and SM Scout kits though I’m still searching of inspiration.
• Eldar champion – His guide, an outcast warlock, based on the Mistweaver miniature
• Squat Champion – An Adeptus Mechanicus “prospector” based on a Grundstock Gunner miniature
• Two Human Champions – Local heroes who are fighting against the corrupt and oppressive servants of the Imperium. One mini will be based on the neophyte cultist kit. The other on the Skitarii vanguard kit
• Space Marine Champion – A redeemed chaos space marine champion. Still looking at the best way to represent him.

An Eldar warlock that claims to have been outcast due to her refusal to kill the sensei. She guides him through his spiritual journey as he comes to terms with his nature. She also supports the warband in combat with illusions and healing. The base mini is the Mistweaver Saih from Silver Tower with arm conversion from the Shadowseer kit and a couple of Eldar accessories added to create a backpack and an alternate shoulder pad from the Harlequin Troupe kit.

The Squat champion represents an Adeptus Mechanicus “prospector” who has joined up with the small group of freedom fighters. The base mini is the Grundstock Gunner sergeant who has had a minor weapon conversion. A couple of accessories were added from the Grey Knight Terminator and Skywardens kits.
