In your opinion, what would you say the end-goal of each faction is? And what do you think will happen when that end goal is reached?
It's not that I have no idea, I'm just curious on people's views.
Of:
- Eldar
- Dark Eldar
- Harlequins
- Orks
- Chaos (can split this view into multiple gods)
- The Imperium (again, can split this view)
- Tyranids
- Necrons
- tau
- And any other sub-species you may want to add.
Thank you.

- Eldar: To restore themselves to their former glory, and kill Slaanesh in the process. If they achieve this then they'd probably restore the galaxy to how it used to be, before ruining it again even worse.
- Dark Eldar: No real end goal, Vect mainly just wants to stay in power and continue life as it is.
- Harlequins: Make the Thousand sons cry.
- Orks: There's no real goal for them beyond fighting.
- Chaos: The motives and goals vary between each type but ultimately the Chaos gods want complete dominance over all existance. Without humanity Khorne or Tzeench or whatever would effectivelh starve, but I like to think of Chaos as being Chaotic. The Chaos Gods wouldn't care that carrying out their intentions to the end would kill themselves, they'd do it because its what they are, that being the Chaotic manifestation of emotions. Khorne wants all life to kill each other, Slaanesh wants all life to violate each other, Tzeench wants all life to betray and revolt against each other and Nurgle wants all life to accept death and be happy about it.
- Imperium: The Imperium varys on motive between human dominace and peace, depending on how grimdark you like your grimdark. The way it is going the Imperium cannot possibly achieve what it wants, it creates its own problems. If it did though then it would mean that the Imperium must have changed dramatically, one way or another.
- Tyranids: Basically to eat everything. The hive mind maybe has some other goal in mind but that's never really been expanded upon other than it may be running away from somthing even worse. If they eat everything, there'll be nothing left, which sucks.
- Necrons: Who really knows anymore. Not even the Necrons.
- Tau: The Tau want galactic domination through aggresive expansion. If they achieve this then humanity will be free from the awful Imperium but probably be forced to live in ghettos.
That should be it. Motives will obviously vary among individual groups within each major faction but that's the genral gist... more or less.

Eldar: depends upon the Eldar. Most Craftworld Eldar just want to survive and (eventually) destroy Slaanesh. Those of Biel-Tan are trying to rebuild the Elldar Empire, so a renewed Eldar galactic domination is the goal of that craftworld.
Dark Eldar: maintain the status quo. These guys couldn't be happier with the way things are
Harlequins: Destroy Slaanesh, keep telling stories
Orks: see: Dark Eldar (this is for the Orks themselves, not their Gods efforts at creating a mega-WAAAGH
Chaos: Basically, make everbody worship Chaos
Imperium: Kill everybody who doesn't worship the Emperor
'Nids: Kill everybody
Necrons: kill everybody
Tau: Create a galaxy-spanning Empire with dominance over every species, directly or indirectly

To prevent Slaneesh from raping them and everyone else, atone for past sins and not go extinct.
To not get raped by Slaneesh while continuing the same sinful lifestyle that birthed her in the first place.
Harlequins: I don't know, jerks don't even have an emoticon. Probably to get on broadway and to rape Slaneesh themselves.
 WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!! ALL THE TIME.
They all just want to muck things up. Just destroy everything and muck things up. Sure eating souls and one uping one another as being the main guy to destroy everything, but they all want to just destroy gak.
Desecrate on the Emperor's memory and use his name in their running of the most disgustingly genocidal dictatorship ever seen.
Rest of the Empire... probably mostly mean well. Levels of dupping by the Inquisition range from total tool bag pawn to reasonable marines that detest the organization.
 Host Man vs. Food
Revenge on those old things that screwed them over or just being a boring terminator meets undead army.
Bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy in an inclusive utopian society (as long as there's no chaos and the Ethereal's remain in charge otherwise "disappear" you)
Farsight Enclaves: Kill orks. Be freaked out by Chaos. Expose the Ethereals for the Big Brother jerks that they are.

Survival
Eldar
Ensuring the survival of their species, mainly through defeating Slaanesh, then likely every other race if they can, so they are never threatened with extinction again.
The Imperium
Same as the Eldar, but casting their net wider than one Chaos faction, and giving the alien threat equal priority. Essentially, greater numbers mean they don't need a priority list.
Both are motivated by past existential crises (the Fall and the Age of Strife respectively), and wish to eliminate all threats to ensure they are never as vulnerable again, but are too beseiged by a lack of numbers with the Eldar, and a surfeit of enemies with the Imperium to do anything other than try to keep themselves alive.
Domination
Necrons
Domination over all life, due to believing they are the most superior form of life in the galaxy.
Tau
Domination over all life, due to believing they have the most superior philosophy in the galaxy.
Neither seem to wish to eliminate all the other factions completely, but just to subjugate them for different reasons. The Necrons feel entitled to the Galaxy, and feel they have the right to rule as they are innately superior as a race. The Tau don't feel they are racially superior, but that their culture is, and wish to impose that on everyone else.
Hedonism
Dark Eldar
Staying alive, increasing their power, and enjoying themselves. Their goals are individualistic, not racial. They band together, but only out of convenience, and often sabotage each other.
Orks
Enjoying themselves (which mainly involves fighting). Like the Dark Eldar, they're mainly individualistic, but they find greater strength in like-minded individuals, but will happily fight each other too.
Both are collections of individuals that come together under a banner of mutual self interest in order to gain power and influence, and ultimately enjoy themselves at the expense of others, with goals too short sighted or parochial to have galaxy-wide ambitions.
Self-Perpetuation
Chaos
Slaves to their natures, the Gods simply follow a path of extending their power bases, even in an often self-defeating manner.
Tyranids
Similar to Chaos, they are slaves to their natures. They consume, adapt, then move on.
Chaos and Tyrannid factions are by definition parasitic. They need to cause suffering to exist, but do so for that reason alone. It's a means to an end. They just follow their intrinsic natures blindly, and are more akin to forces of nature.

I can tell you for the Necrons it depends.
Standard Crons- Rule over all.
Destroyer/Flayer Crons- Kill all.
Szarekh the silent king- Stop tyranids from eating everything, get new bodies/souls. (he's the only one that matters)
Its a common misconception that the Necrons are unified in a single cause.
With the advent of the newcron fluff, the crons are pretty divided.
The only exception to this is that EVERY Necron is in servitude to Szarekh.
After killing tyranids and getting new bodies, who knows what he wants.
At that point however, his people wont be programmed to obey him, so its up in the air what happens.
Probably civil war, since Imotekh sees himself as an ultimate ruler/savior of the Necron race.
