Hi there!

With the Horus Heresy Throne of Skulls event, I'm finally getting back into gear painting a single army, for a reason, rather than scatting about over several projects!

I chose to do Word Bearers - for several reasons:

1) I love the back story; the idea that a son's love scorned by his father felt to me to be the strongest in the whole story line
2) The Lorgar model is stunning - it exudes arrogance
3) It's a great colour scheme that can be mixed up with steel / granite grey
4) I have an Ultramarines 40k army and thought it would be nice to do a direct opposite!

The points level is 2000, with more allowable by agreement with your opponent, so I'm plumbing for 2k, with Lorgar and possibly a Titan thrown in if my oppo agrees!

So here we go - 8 weeks to bring it all up to painted....

Lorgar is done apart from his scenic base (which I won't need for now)

And Erebus is well on his way:

While the minis sure look good, it's hard to see any details because of the harsh lighting! There's a lot of shadows and we can't see the paintjob well.

The look really nice so far, but I would also recommend toning down the lighting. Natural lighting always gives the best representations of how the models look in person! Also, just so you know, this should technically go in the P&M Blogs section, since it's WIP. Regardless, though, I look forward to seeing more! The weathering is especially nice.

Love the Ashen Circle. Can'twait to see the rapier all done up. Was the Javelin a pain to assemble?

Please keep throwing up more painted units. It will motivate me to start a Word Bearers force to play along side my HH World Eaters.

Happy to see another fellow 30k Word Bearers player out there. I can't wait to see the rest of your army as you progress.
