GW please release more 40K as soon as possible! AoS is invading the 40K General Discussion.

I don't think it would work that well and it will be a really temporary solution once GW release new factions and models no army book will match them and the older models and armies will probably disapear in the long term.

Why is this in the 40k section?

Two things:

1. You have accidentally posted this thread in the wrong section of the forum. Please contact a moderator to help you move the thread to its proper place.

2. Punctuation. Seriously, get some. The OP's grammar is an unreadable mess.

What the OP suggests is using Warhammer points values to play Warhammer using the AoS rules, while excluding the AoS models.

Why wouldn't you just play Warhammer?

Just a (very unpopular?) answer... Because some people like the new rules better? I'm still somewhat undecided, not having played that many games, but I like the speed, the skirmish style over troop blocks (which is what I liked about LOTR too), this despite any perceived failings of the new game system.

As for an answer to the OP...
Using Warhammer 8th point values for your armies, while using AoS rules is just one of the many, many options, besides all the fan-made point value systems that have been popping up lately. However, those point values from 8th (whether anyone thinks they are accurate or not is not the issue here) are set, assuming certain interactions between the models, the (special) rules, and everything that made 8th, well,... 8th. Using those same point values which were written for the rules and model statistics of 8th in the new system, where most of those rules have either changed or even disappeared, would probably mean that a certain model costs points for abilities that now works differently (maybe better, maybe worse) or that have even disappeared.

Well, assuming that you're not trolling, here's why that's a bad idea - in previous army books the point costs were calculated based on:
- stats;
- special rules;
- possible interactions with other units' special rules;
- internal balance.

What you can see right away is that:
- stats are different now;
- special rules are different now;
- possible interactions are different now;
- internal balance... well, is hard to determine without points.

As you can tell from what I wrote - 3 out of 4 major balancing factors are totally different between WFB and AoS, so those point costs have no basis now. What it needs is a new algorithm to determine the point costs based on new stats, new rules, new interactions and whatnot. And hopefully add EXTERNAL balance , which GW tends to ignore, resulting in things like serpent-spam Eldar in 40k. Or high/dark elves in WFB.
