I got a bunch of the Khorne guys from Age of Sigmar, and have been trying to think of what to run them as for 40k. The regular less armored infantry really don't look right as cultists, they're way too bulky and mean-looking, basically space marines without their armor on. Which would make using them as marine scouts pretty great, since those are just space marines in 4+ armor. But I also wanted to keep them close-combat oriented, and the best army for that would seem to be Black Templars, since they like to run into melee and take their scouts with them.

I haven't really messed with Black Templars in a long time though, can they still do big blobs of marines and scouts charging forward like they used to? What special weapons do they pack? And what, if any vehicles would they run as support? I kinda want to have the right conversions down before I go out and buy the book.

That sounds perfect for Khorne then, they can't take psykers anyway. I think I might pick up that Lord of Skulls-on-legs as a Knight ally and give all my dudes robo-arms in an attempt to emulate their god-king and save on buying more special weapons.

The resemblance is uncanny!

I want to run the beefy unarmored guys as something better than just cultists. And it matches the fluff pretty well, they're aspiring warriors proving their worth. Heck, switch the words Khorne and Emperor and there's not much difference between them and Black Templars.
