As title.
I recently had the chance to get the Command Rhino and Land Raider Excelsior when I visited Nottingham, but seeing as I tend to use a Gladius Strike Force, I wasn't sure if I was willing to spend £75 on a (admittedly awesome looking and effective) unit I couldn't use.
So, could I use the two in a Gladius? Perhaps as a Command slot?

Is it written down as an option? It's not, so no. You don't just get to add random units to any Formation and the Gladius is no different. If you want to use these models, use a CAD or other Detachment.

That said, I don't see the Command Tanks written in my codex anyways...

Doesn't have to be in the codex to be allowed on the table. IA:2 is a perfect example of a whole bunch of stuff not in the codex and available to Space Marines, Blood Angels and Space Wolves etc. But, they can't be taken in place of similar units that have been strictly written out in Formations and Detachments.

What's left of Cadia

While it isn't written as an option most people would probably let you run it as part of a gladius

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

There is no avaliable HQ slot to take it.

Having said that - just ally in SMs, for a scout tax you now have your HQ slot.

Also - I live near Rotherham now, not far at all from Nottingham, are you saying that if I drive down to Nottingham HQ, I'll be able to purchase it?

Unless it is explicitly written to be included in the gladius you cannot take it in one.

Ah, okay. Shame about that, but thanks no less!

Yup. There's a ton of them there, Warhammer World exclusive for £75. I had half a mind to get them, but I'll leave it for now.

RAW/any competitive setting? Obviously not.

Pick up game? Ask your opponent.

Personal preference. Yeah, as long as you're not being cheesy about it: if you're trying to game the system, that's outside of it; if you want taking an equivalent fun choice 'cause you want roughly what will give you a bonus without wanting to take vanilla choices, sure. Other examples of things that should realistically be included are all of the FW characters (only lists the codex options as valid options for "captain" or w/e) and quite a few FW tanks.

GW should have used more general tags, like 'tank w/o the "transport" rule' instead of listing them all for armored taskforce, or squads with terminator armor instead of listing assault and regular terminator squads, etc., esp. if they're going the way of modular single release expansions. If it were another company, I'd say RAW all the way; with GW who knows, also it's a pretty light-weight game.
